Last week, when I visited my neighbor, she shared that her amaryllis had just bloomed.

Isn’t this a beauty? What is your experience of either seeing or growing one?

For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, cacti, blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.
There are no specific themes for the Flower Hour, but please use your own photography. And you have all week to link to this post.
New to The Flower Hour photo challenge? Please check out my page for more information! I encourage “double-dipping” with other blog challenges if you do not want to create a separate post.

I like Amaryllis. It’s wonderful to see its flowers when nothing else is blooming. Here’s my entry:

That’s lovely, Terri. We were given one a very similar colour to look after when friends returned to England. It excelled itself by flowering twice in succession. I’m hoping for a repeat performance xx

Thank you, Jo! I’m glad to read you’ve been successful in regrowing one! They’re such dramatic plants.

Thank you, Beth! I’m looking into buying bulbs and when to plant them here in Eastern Washington. My other neighbor showed me a Pic of hers from last May, growing in her yard!

A radiant bloom and superbly photographed, Terri! A crimson beauty! I have seen amaryllis but not had the experience of growing one… yet.

Thank you, Suzette! I went over to my friend’s home this morning and the plant has 6 blooms! My other neighbor had several of these blooming in her yard last May! There is hope! In the meantime, I ordered a fake amaryllis plant to display 😉

Six blooms, wow…that is amazing. Faux florals are good too. They add color and good energy, I feel.

What a lovely, inviting post 🌺 The amaryllis truly is a showstopper—bold, elegant, and full of quiet drama. I love how you weave personal connection, beauty, and community into one space, encouraging others to pause and notice the colors life offers. The Flower Hour feels less like a challenge and more like a shared celebration of nature, creativity, and friendship. A gentle reminder that flowers, much like people, brighten our worlds simply by being themselves.

Over here these flowers bloom in April, hence the name, “
April Lilies”. And I do have a few in my garden.

Oh I’m so jealous, Sadje! Here, they’re grown indoors and are tricky to plant and regrow. I would love to see yours!
