Sunday Stills Monthly Color Challenge: Crushing on #Orange and #Peach

Welcome to September’s Monthly Color Challenge! This week, we’ll explore the various shades of peach and orange. You can share both or just one color.

Late summer brings with it a lot of peach and orange colors, whether found in a sunrise or sunset, a garden, or stunning views while on vacation.

Peach and Orange Blossom Special

This year’s garden shows off my peachy gladiolus…

Walking around my neighborhood on the 7th day of the week, I spied an orange sunflower.

This reminded me that I still have packets of seeds left from the various sunflower species I cultivated while living in Sacramento. Perhaps you remember these?

During our visit to the Woodburn Tulip Farm near Portland, Oregon, last April, these peachy tulips were terrific to discover.

Nature’s Breath-taking Oranges with Peaches & Cream

Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure to travel throughout the West and view jaw-dropping scenery like these depicted in these spectacular destination spots in Nevada, Arizona, and Utah.

And how can I not include another view of Antelope Canyon?

After spending many summers in the Sacramento Delta, I have never seen a sunset I didn’t like. This one, with seven wind turbines, was captured in 2017.

Closer to home, with help from my Painnt filter, even a mundane backyard looks pretty peachy.

  • Entries for this theme can be posted all week.

As always, I encourage double-dipping into other challenges. Marrying the various prompts together in one post creates more of a challenge, at least for me. I also encourage reviving previous images that fit the theme.

I can’t wait to see how you interpret the various shades of orange and peach in this week’s theme! Creativity is encouraged, so please share your own photographs (old or new), poems, original short stories, and music inspired by the theme. Join me next week as we explore “Autumn or Spring?”

  1. Beautiful photos! I believe that colors can improve our mood and give us energy. That’s why in my wardrobe there are many clothes in orange and red, woolen sweaters, T-shirts and many other things. When I put them on, my mood immediately improves 🙂

  2. Orange sunrises and sunsets will always get my attention and yours is quite lovely. I was attempting to add a link to one of my end of summer sunsets here but alas I don’t think the comment box block was not appreciating my efforts! Perhaps it’ll post even though I can’t see it drafted. I’ve been away from blogging for about a month but you’ll be seeing me jump back in this fall!

  3. Such happy, vibrant colours, Terri. And not an orange or peach in sight. Late summer/early Autumn at their best. Sadly, our sunflowers didn’t do as well this year, except for the Teddy Bear variety, which are just about coming to their best. At least the wildlife will have some seeds from them.

I love my sunrises, too, especially during the winter months. This one was taken in January this year.

I hope you’re having a great week, Terri. Enjoy the spectacular colours on offer.

    • Thank you, Hugh! And what a lovely image you shared! Winter sunrises are the best! It’s a little dusty orange here yet, as we wait for more vibrant fall colors to show up. You reminded me that I still have Teddy bear sunflower seeds too cultivate this spring and plant.

  4. Terri,

Orange is big in East Tennessee because it is the color of University of Tennessee Athletics, and EVERYBODY wears orange this time of the year. I thought I would also include a photo of Lower Antelope Canyon that I took on our recent visit. That place is amazingly orange. Have a great week. Joe

    • I love what college football does for their individual communities, Joe! Our Washington state cougars football and Gonzaga bulldogs basketball teams are hometown heroes in red and blue!
I saw your Facebook post of your awesome trip through lower Antelope. Glad you could go!

  5. Did I die and accidentally go to heaven? These are my favorite pictures in the world, and my favorite color. There’s no competition for that gladiola! Theis post the perfect link for my Over a Cuppa this week. 🙂 Whew!

  6. These are all brilliant examples of orange and peach Terri, especially the bright flowers and I do love a sunset with its fiery orange sky. But I think the swirling colours in the rocks are just perfection. A great colour choice for this week’s Sunday Stills and you know I had to share some orange colour!
I’m about to embark on a big trip o/s so I included my current orange faves in my post on Friday 13 https://debs-world.com/2024/09/13/friday-feels-3-questions-and-an-f-word-on-friday-13th/ just so I could join in, I couldn’t let this one go 🙂
Thanks for the ongoing prompts, I’ll see how I’m going when I get settled and try to join in. Have a great week.

  7. What a nice collection of peachy-orange hues you have here Terri – your sunsets and sunflowers are my favorites with their vibrant colors. And the pale peach blooms are also pretty. I didn’t think about your Antelope Canyon and Bryce Canyon photos being incorporated into this post, but those Canyon colors are spot on for your Challenge. I have done an update on Council Point Park as I only had a few peachy-orange photos, so they will be for my Wordless Wednesday post.

    • Thank you, Tina! The tulip farm literally had tulips in every color of the rainbow and more! Lower Antelope Canyon run by Dixie Tours is the best one for grand shots. I hope you can visit some day. I went in January this year.
I love that picture of the monks–it’s quite striking!

  8. Wow, Terri! Thanks for sharing this beautiful gallery and joining the Lens-Artists this week, too. These peach and orange hues are wonderful. I can’t honestly pick a flower over a sunset or landscape image. They’re all great!

  9. Wow! You’ve managed several challenges and done a fabulous. That gladiola picture is stunning, as are the wind turbines in the sunset. I’m glad to see yet more canyon photos! I’m hoping to pull my post together shortly.

  10. Terri, thanks for the inspiration. Antalope Canyon is always a favorite, as are your sunflower pics. The standout for me in this post is the sunset. My post isn’t nearly as thoughtful or creative, but boy is it orange! I noticed the flowers on your blog background look exactly like the flowers in one of my pictures. I took that in Hallstatt, and I still don’t know what it is. Do you?

    • Thank you, Suzanne! I have SO many Antelope Canyon images as well as images of the Aurora from last May. I try to integrate them into posts when possible, 😆!
I think those flowers are Lazy Susan’s or cone flowers. I could have added one for this week’s orange challenge!
