As always, I welcome you to my photo challenge feature, Sunday Stills. This week, we’re focusing on windows and the stories they can tell us.
“If a window of opportunity appears, don’t pull down the shade.” – Tom Peters
Several years ago, we spent some time in Baja Sur, Mexico, during the winter, where windsports rule each day. In this image, I captured the sunrise through the windows (also shown in the featured photo), marking the promise of a new day.

When we stayed in Baja, at 7 o’clock sharp, the winter dawn always greeted us (I mean me). Grabbing my phone, I shot many a sunrise over the Sea of Cortez. I’m not sure how many times I’d shout, “Honey, you gotta see this,” to my sleeping husband.
“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.” – Thomas Jefferson
Architectural Windows
The “House on the Rock” is an iconic house built on a large rock outcropping at the tip of Arrow Point on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This was one of many amazing views from the tour boat. Apparently, someone lives here! I almost shouted, “Honey, you gotta see this,” but he wasn’t on the boat with me 😉

After spending time at Seattle’s Alki Beach, we drove along the peninsula. As I sat in the back seat of the car, this was the view from my window. A condo unit filled with windows. But the view of Mt. Rainier in the distance subtly stole the show. I shared this photo with my daughters and said, ‘You gotta see this!”

In Roslyn, Washington, where the 1990s TV show Northern Exposure was filmed, this was the window that served as the clinic for Dr. Joel Flieshman.

“A breeze, a forgotten summer, a smile, all can fit into a storefront window.” ― Dejan Stojanovic
An autumn scene in Winthrop, Washington. Sharing this autumn loveliness for Dawn’s Festival of Leaves.

Framed within Automobile Windows
During our recent travels, we came across some interesting windows. While walking in downtown Seattle, did my eyes deceive me, or was that a cute dog in the car window? And wearing a hat?

While visiting Marsha in August, we took an evening walk around her brother’s Portland, Oregon, neighborhood. As we turned the corner back to the house, I noticed how nice my new car looked, especially framed by Mt Hood in the distance!

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” ― Confucious
During our first day driving in Yellowstone National Park, we noticed the clouds reflected in the back window of this van.

Back at home, I captured the morning’s sun through our transom window on the day of the Autumnal Equinox.

“What light through yonder window breaks?” – William Shakespeare
But with all these windows, someone needs to clean the high-rise windows in downtown Spokane, Washington!

Terri,
A lot of fun pictures here. I love the sunrises. My wife drives a Highlander, and I hope you enjoy yours as much as she does. The mountain in the background is spectacular. My contribution this week is from an Honor Air trip I took to D.C. last year. I spotted the Pentagon from my window seat. Enjoy your day, and please stay in touch! Joe

Hi Ludwig, thank you for reading. It’s a simple photo challenge I’ve been hosting since 2018! Each week I share th interpretations of my theme with examples and try to tell various stories about the images as they relate to the theme. I’ve also seen your posts, too, but I dont always have a window to share. I’m off to read yours!

A fabulous collection of windows. And so much that is new to me in seeing windows – a window with a sunrise, windows on the rocks (we need to make this into a drink), windows with neat reflections – just grand! Thank you for sharing with Monday Window.

Hi Ludwig, thank you so much! I shared one of the sunrise windows before and dubbed it “fire in the window.” Windows on the rocks sound like a lovely name for a cocktail 🙂 If you get inspired, please feel free to participate in my Sunday Stills challenges.

This a nice collection of windows scenes Terri. The rustic cabins in Fall look very inviting and the house perched atop the rock is unique. I am not sure I could be convinced to spend the night there though. 🙂 The dog is very cute! My post which comes along later as you know is about my trip to Grosse Ile, which had an outside art collection by the Detroit Institute of Arts at eight different sites on the island. And along the way there was a vintage bike shop – thus the windows portion,

Thank you, Linda! Those cabins were in Winthrop WA, in the Northern Cascades, last October. No autumn pics here yet, still too warm to change the leaves. The rock house is legit and has a driveway. It was a fun discovery on the 2-hour boat tour in Idaho.

The cabins looked like they were in a picturesque area. We’re not too vibrant with our leaves here either – we were 85 yesterday and today, which is 15 degrees above normal. That is an amazing way to live – the view from anywhere in the house would be fantastic!

A fabulous, eclectic mixture of window-themed photos, Terri! 😀 Love the sunrise shots, especially, and the house on the rock is cool. No yardwork! And of course, the dog with the hat. What a cutie! It’s rare to see a female highrise window washer. Good for her, but I sure wouldn’t want to do that. 😥
