All cute bird pictures Terri. What does your hummingbird have on the side of its head? A piece of flower? We don’t have Anna’s Hummingbirds here, just the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.

Thank you, Linda. Those are the throat feathers, I think on the male. Anna’s are here too and others have shared pics of rufous and calliope.

I see – well it did seem to sparkle like sequins, but I thought a piece of flower had hung on after it was feeding. I have been amazed in the past with Wayne’s (Tofino Photography) hummingbirds and how they are so anxious to get one last big sip before bedtime, they flock there and buzz the feeder, even perching on his finger as he holds the feeder as they await their turn.

Birds are fascinating creatures. There’s plenty of mag pies where I live, but there’s one particular young mag pie that lives in our neighbourhood, that is super social and often come up close when you sit down at one of the benches outside of our house. .

We used to have a flock of Magpies that stayed around our Sacramento home. They kept my dogs busy!

Thank you, Jane! The western flycatchers nested again under our patio cover and fledged into our yard. The parents led them to some tall ponderosa pines on the next property. I already miss them.

Lovely photos, Terri! I am replacing my hummingbird feeders with the kind that my sister in Michigan uses, they are better built. Maybe better suited to the extreme sunshine/heat here.
