Now that we’re home, enjoying our spring-like weather in our own backyard, I’m eagerly awaiting the blooming of the native arrowleaf balsamroot wild sunflowers that grow here. They look like this and typically bloom in April-May in Eastern Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

I got this lucky shot on the Centennial Trail two years ago, right next to the Spokane River. I had to go off-trail to capture this, and I’m so glad I did!

While waiting for these beauties to bloom in another week or two, here are some lucky sunflower shots complete with the birds and the bees (wink-wink).
Summer Sunflower Surprises
These cooperative little goldfinches posed quite nicely for me last summer. (Bird Images captured with Lumix FZ300 camera).

I am super proud of this LUCKY shot taken in 2019 with a much older cell phone!

Hi Terri – First time on WP today – we had some wicked weather last night (I was fine but we had an EF-1 tornado pass through our five-mile square City, but I’m on the opposite side and had no damage, but was up until 4:00 a.m. – the severe weather was overnight and I stayed up for it, but we have ongoing bad weather unfortunately).
Anyway … here is my post today, with a listing Lotus leaf and a brave little bird standing on it. 🙂
This ain’t easy, I feel queasy! #Wordless Wednesday #The Lotus leaf is listing! #114th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic | WALKIN’, WRITIN’, WIT & WHIMSY

Oh wow, that must have been scary, Linda, despite being further away! We might get snow this weekend, definitely feeling temps. Welcome to spring!

Yes, I feel very lucky to have no problems from this tornado – a little too close for comfort. I will be happy to see cooler temps on Sunday, with the frost warning on Monday. Usually it takes me until the first hot and humid week to whine about the heat/humidity, but this constant stormy period due to heat spikes has me whining already. Our storm tonight is staying to the West (as of now anyway).

They’re all lovely, of course. The backlit, sunset shot of the Sunflowers is stunning but, by far, my favourite is the header (and cell phone shot!!!!!) – “Bee Incoming”. Pure amazingness. I’m a wee bit green over that one! Thanks Terri! Best part of the week – bar none! Today’s sweet happy!

I reckon, right place, right time and the desire to take a photo. All good ingredients for a good photo, even if it is only one out of ten photos. If it was a one and only walk by stop take photo that is excellent 😀

Hey, Terri. Your wingback is now showing up on my site. I think it was because of a setting on my site for comments. So sorry! I have changed the setting. Would you mind trying to add the pingback once more to see if it works now? My apologies. 😊

Birds, bees, flowers and trees … the niceties we dream about in the Winter. I like all your close-ups of the flowers and their “visitors” Terri. Lucky you seeing those Arrowleaf Balsamroot Sunflowers in a few weeks’ time already!
(You were back in Reader today.)

Heehee, love it, Linda! Many. arrowleafs are blooming already. The ones that get full sun…which is hard to come by the last 2 days

That’s great they bloom that early – a real taste of Spring! We finally have Daffodils, but not in the neighborhood yet, but I saw them at the Botanical Gardens on Saturday. They probably have been planted there for years, so are hardy, early bloomers by now.

I got some Daffodil pics last Saturday … they were a little bedraggled as we had a lot of rain and a few cold nights. The flowers are confused this year (but, aren’t we all). 🙂
