Welcome back to a new year for the Flower Hour! There was a short two-week break during the holidays, but we’re back on schedule every Tuesday in 2026. Thank you to a few who linked their lovely florals during that time.
As we close out the winter holidays and festivities, I’m reminded of our previous winter vacations to Baja California Sur (BCS), Mexico, to engage in wind and board sports and bask in the warm sun.

“How lovely yellow is! It stands for the sun.” — Vincent Van Gogh
The yellow trumpet flowers above grow on a lush green bush, commonly seen in warm climates. I caught this stunner years ago against the red stucco at a friend’s home in Los Barriles on the Sea of Cortez.
For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves, blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Even bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.
There are no specific themes for the Flower Hour; just use your own photography.

New to The Flower Hour photo challenge? Please check out my page for more information! I encourage “double-dipping” with other blog challenges if you do not want to create a separate post.

Here is my submission for the challenge, I realized that many of the flowers I photograph, I do not actually know their names, so possibly this will help me 😉 https://yourlifeasartphotography.com/2026/01/06/the-flower-hour-12-fall-beauty/

I wouldn’t be surprised, Jo, thank you! I captured that so long ago before I had Google Lens.

As I see your background snowflakes we are expecting 44C today so plenty of sun and water activity, in the cooler morning hours. Never snow. My flowers are struggling to stay alive, so perhaps no photo share today.

I’m not sure why I’ve come up as anonymous, but I’ll look into that.

Such a warm and inviting return to the Flower Hour 🌼
Your words feel like sunshine in the middle of winter—those yellow trumpet flowers practically glow off the page. I love how you weave memory, place, and color together; Baja’s warmth, the red stucco, and Van Gogh’s line make the image linger beautifully. This is a gentle, joyful reminder to notice color, nature, and creativity year-round. A lovely way to welcome a new year of shared blooms and quiet inspiration.

Oh, I agree, Jacqui! My opinion is that flowers, landscapes, and wildlife are in the top 10 images posted by bloggers. I hoped to fill the void left by Cee (flower if the day) when she passed last year.
