I am insanely jealous of these Terri – we had only one day scheduled for the canyon as we were passing through and the was a huge storm at the other end so we weren’t allowed in due to the fear of flash flooding. I am dying to be there! Glorious images, perfect for the challenge

Thank you, Tina! Can you believe this trip was my third try? I totally get why you feel this way. In 2019, when we got snowed in in Sedona in January, I had a tour booked as well as camping booked at Lake Powell. Both were cancelled because of freezing cold weather at the border. We then drove to Nevada and got to visit the CValley of Fire’s little slot canyon and all of the area so it was not a horrible bust. Last April as we drove back from our San Diego trip for my daughter’s wedding, we stopped to see if we could book a tour for that day, but everything was full 😦

Antelope Canyon strikes me as so surreal – the colors, the swirls, the enormity of it. I can see why you enjoyed the experience Terri.

Yes, good things and bad Terri. We shattered all kinds of records today with 64 degrees and there were two earthquakes today.

It’s so beautiful there, isn’t it! I think we were in a different slot canyon, because we didn’t have a stairway to get out at the end. But it was beautiful like this. You captured the colors brilliantly!

There may be more canyons. Antelope Canyon has two, the upper and lower, right across the highway from each other. It was truly an indelible experience!

You’ll love it, John. The lower canyon is longer, and I recommend Dixie Tours.

I had no idea there were steps inside the Antelope Canyon, Terri. Just knowing that makes it sound a much bigger place than I imaged – a little like the TARDIS.

Although I was I inside the canyon, I read the lower canyon is 120 feet deep and 1300 feet in length. It does feel timeless inside 😉

I can’t get over how dramatic and beautiful Antelope Canyon is, Teri! Did you drive there?

It was really amazing, and seeing it on a sunny day make a big difference. Yes, we drove from Spokane to Scottsdale and we were there for a month. I took the side trip to Antelope Cyn by myself. The drive from Scottsdale to Page is about 5 hours one way. I stayed in a hotel overnight before my tour and drove back afterwards.

That was a long drive doing it by yourself but it looks like it’s worth it, Terri! I check on some tour options. There are tours from Las Vegas. When we travel, we try not to drive too much. We drove in the our early traveling days but not for the last ten years.

Diana came to see me on Monday. I made lunch for her. She stayed for three and a half hours. She could have stayed longer but we have the grandkids on Mondays in the afternoon. 🙂 🙂

Our backyard is almost done. The patio, turf, and planters should be done in a few days, and the concrete for the side yard will be next. We can have a BBQ in our backyard inviting your cousin also.

Perfect. Nothing like the warm glow of Antelope Canyon. I didn’t know how many steps. In fact, seeing your photos, I guess I seen upper and need to see the lower. I love when there is ladders for exploration. Very nice.

Wow, 177 steps down! That means 177 steps up. I’d have to be in much better shape to do that. I know my husband wouldn’t be able to. But maybe with the right motivation…….

Thank you, Anne! The last 30+ steps is more like a ladder. Going out there was a mild incline so we didn’t have as many abrupt steps up and out!

The tour company tells you how many steps down. The guides let people take their time, which is one reason they break into groups of 5-6 per guide, I believe. My knees were mad but they got over it 😉

It was jaw-dropping, Janis. The tour specifically says not to stop and take pics from the stairs, which is a great idea for safety! I will be weaving more cyn pics into many more posts. Thank you for your support!

It truly is, Graham. As you may have seen in an earlier post, our guide too pics of us with our phones, and there are at least two of me looking up with my mouth open!

I hope you can visit some day, David. Northern AZ has so much to see. There were 177 steps down into the canyon as it drops over 120 feet down.
