The Flower Hour #23: Spring’s Phloxy Florals

For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, fungus, algae, cacti, blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.

Astronomical Spring officially sprang on Friday, March 20, as the northern hemisphere welcomed the vernal equinox. Meteorological Spring was March 1st.

Over the years in Eastern Washington, I’ve discovered a variety of wildflowers that bloom between mid-March and late May, known as phlox. The early colorful clusters are a welcome sight on my trail walks.

Phlox are hardy, drought and deer-resistant perennials that can be planted or found growing wild.

  3. The Phlox are so pretty and delicate – I like how dainty they all are, but that first macro shot of the little hairs on the Phlox stem is interesting looking. I will have some wildflowers tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday and will post them here.
