Hood River Bridge

Remembering Cee Neuner, Beloved Photoblogger and Friend

Today, November 7, we celebrate the birthdays of three bloggers. This special one-day celebration honors Cee Neuner, an incredibly talented photographer, on what would have been her 64th birthday. She was a dedicated blogger who opened our eyes to the world of photography and taught us how to use photos to tell our blog stories.

She encouraged us to post a flower a day, wowed us with her black-and-white photo challenges, the “Which Way Challenge,” now hosted by Deb Waters, and the “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge” (CFFC), now hosted by Dan Antion.

As a challenge host myself (Sunday Stills and The Flower Hour), I know how much work goes into hosting challenges. I admire the current hosts of challenges and respect the amount of time that goes into planning themes, preparing images and posts, as well as replying to and commenting on links shared.

The idea that Cee managed 7 FOTD posts, CFFC, Which Way, and Black and White Challenges is quite incredible in its scope. Not only did she post these daily and weekly, but she also always commented or replied to her participants. She also managed to join our challenges on a regular basis.

In early 2021, I felt honored to be part of a group of bloggers that met on ZOOM during the pandemic, which included Cee, Marsha, Judy Dystra-Brown, and Carol Carlisle of A Place to Wonder.

I began (resurrected) Sunday Stills in April 2018, after a three-month break during which I had almost quit blogging. I can’t imagine my life without blogging. I have met countless bloggers in real life (If I know where you live, and I’m visiting there, I’ll come knocking😉). I was thisclose to meeting Cee in person in 2022 when we visited my cousins in Portland, Oregon.

This dahlia garden, located in Tigard, Oregon, represents Cee. A beautiful, intricate flower, surrounded by lovely friends and bloggers.

From where I live in Eastern Washington, the drive to the Portland, Oregon area takes me about 6 hours. Cee lived in Canby, about a 45-minute drive south of Portland. I felt a special kinship with Cee, having lived in Beaverton, a suburb of Portland, as a child.

I’m also sharing this image of the Hood River bridge in Oregon, on the Columbia River. Cee shared numerous photos of this area on her blog and loved photographing bridges. Oregon held a special place in her heart.

Happy birthday to Dan Antion and to Marsha Ingrao for graciously co-hosting this link-up.

Also sharing the bridge for Becky’s November Shadows.

Happy birthday in Heaven, Cee. You left an indelible place in our hearts.

  1. Hey bestie, I remember our photo shoot of those dahlias when we couldn’t find or get to the Dahlia Fields. They were such a great find and so close. Our weekly phone calls were so amazing, and such an honor to be included. Cee had such a big heart, and left parts of it all over the world.

  2. Thanks, Terri. I’m so sorry that you never had the chance to meet Cee. At least you had the chance to get to know her through zoom. I know she’s reading everyone’s comments and loving them. When she was on hospice it meant so much to her to read all the well wishes and tributes everyone sent. I’m sorry I can’t respond to everyone and keep her blog going, but her death has hit me harder than I thought it would. We had an incredible 35 years together. Thanks for all your love!

  3. Lovely post, Terri. I didn’t follow Cee but I saw her comments on other’s blogs and knew that she loved photography. I love this memory tribute that Dan and Marsha are hosting. Lots of fabulous pictures and remembrances.

I remember crossing that bridge when Paul and I drove home from our trip to western Canada a couple of years ago. It is a gorgeous area!

    • Thank you, Janis! In addition to the weekly photo challenge hosted by WordPress years ago, Cee’s challenges were always at the top of my list to do. The Hood River Bridge (its official name escapes me), is a beautiful, bright green. I drive through there this past summer and the area was alive with windsurfers that day.

  4. That’s lovely, Terri. Cee was irreplaceable and I’m another whose world was opened by her presence in blogging. She was talented and generous and I can’t look at flowers without thinking of her.

  5. That’s an absolutely beautiful tribute, Terri. Thank you for sharing these photos and your memories. I’m sure Cee is looking down and enjoying this. I love that bridge. I lived in Seattle for three years, and I traveled to Portland many times while there and since then on trips to the Northwest. I know that bridge and it was wonderful to see it here.

  6. Lovely tribute to Cee! 🌹 She was a huge part of the photoblogging community and will be missed. It’s nice to know that her prompts will continue elsewhere. Happy Birthday to those celebrating!

  7. What a wonderful post, Terri. I sometimes think of leaving blogging. I’m sure there are things I should be doing with the time. But I’d come looking for the lovely friends I’ve made on here. They’re hard to leave behind xx
