I loved them all equally. The colour versions are beautiful but then the black and white are too, in a unusual kind of way. The Northern Lights are so interesting in monochrome, I’d never image that!

Very interesting Terri! The biggest surprise in your set is that I really liked the B&W of the northern lights. I’d have thought there would be no contest because the lights are all about color and yet somehow the B&W version is also beautiful. I strongly preferred the color on the flowers although your Painnt app version is very striking! Thanks for joining us this week!

Thank you, Tina! Funny, at Spokane’s latitude, the northern lights look white and gray to the naked eye. Two of these rosy pics were intended for Sunday Stills, but my post got too long. 😁 This was a fun experiment.

Mostly I prefer the color photos, but the last one works really well in B&W.

I saw a similar post by Yvette Prior earlier this evening. I like the comparison of color to black-and-white … it’s stunning. For your photos Terri, I like the black-and-white equally to the color version, with the exception of the Northern Lights.

Although I love B&W photos, I have to say that color wins out here. It is so interesting that you sometimes can’t see the real colors in an Aurora display without taking a photo when often the colors captured in an unedited photo aren’t nearly as brilliant as what my eyes see.

Thanks, Janis! I mostly prefer color too. These images were left off my Sunday Stills post due to content. Most auroras I’ve seen appear gray to the naked eye, at our latitude. The lens does pick up the colors which is a thrill!

The flowers work surprisingly well in black and white, Terri, but not the dahlia. Nor the Norther Lights. You obviously had fun experimenting though.

I agree, Jo! To the naked eye, the aurora looks much like the b&w image, at least in our latitude.

While there is merit and beauty in each picture, predominantly I liked your colour photos. However, the lead photo, adjusted, is better than in pink, I think.

It depends. I’ve seen many stunning colourful ones visible with the naked eye.

I love your last B&W done with the Painnt app, Terri. The veins of the flowers look like a drawing. Oh, just let you know I couldn’t click the post from the email to comment either. What’s wrong with WP?

Thank you, Miriam! The app gave it the appearance of a sketch, which looks cool. If I try to open posts via my email, I have the same problem. It seems to be a system glitch in WordPress. From my phone, i can comment if I open posts in the Reader.

I like the app, Terri. I used the Reader all the time but I opened yours from the email today.
This is the second winter I deal with nasal drip and turning into chest congestion. It’s been almost two months. Just got new meds and hope they help.

I loved the experiments you shared, Terri. The flowers stood out in black and white very nicely. As for the Aurora, I prefer the color edit.

Oh this is a hard question Terri, I love the colour photos very much but for some reason, possibly my mood, the black and white are calling to me .

Although I usually favour black and white, for flowers I prefer colour. Because that is what flowers are all about for me. xo
