For Wordless Wednesday, let your images tell the story.

Awesome pictures! What equipment were you using to capture them? Joe

Oh you saw this! My cell phone. Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra. In night mode. Simple as that. The lights were not colorful to the naked eye. I had to point my phone to a dark spot and shoot. The image appeared exactly how you saw them. Cameras pic up light the human eye cannot. It was still a thrill because the aurora was over our heads and lit up the night sky with glowing white “clouds.” By midnight I could see a bit of the pinks and greens with my eyes. Such a spectacular event to witness.

That angel looks just like the one that sits on top of our Christmas tree. Now I know what she does for the rest of the year when the tree is not up.
Excellent shots, Terri.

Oh that’s hilarious, Hugh! Love it, thank you. I shared the angel photo with my brother and he’s the one who said it looked like Jabba the Hut from Star Wars. 🤣
Like my Antelope Canyon pics, I’ll be sharing more aurora photos when blog inspiration strikes.

I’m so glad you got to see them, Teri. I didn’t know about them on Friday night and then stayed up late Saturday and Sunday and saw nothing. My daughter got great photos like you. I told my husband that I now need to go to Norway. 🙂

We felt so lucky, Diana, thank you! I guess it pays to watch the local news, LOL! Let’s go to Norway–I’m down for that!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time … you were lucky to see this phenomenon Terri. Thanks for the mention for the idea of a lava lamp. I remember when they first came out, everyone was so mesmerized by the moving colors, just like this Northern Lights experience.

Thanks for idea, Linda! You have a great way with words! My lava lamp has the green glowing “lava”, so mesmerizing!

These are wonderful, Terri. My husband longs to see the northern lights but so far, we haven’t. One day perhaps, as one of his sisters lives in Norway. Lava lamps. I remember them, although I didn’t have one.

Thank you, Janet! When I saw my first aurora in 2022, vague as it was, I thought it was amazing. This event was spectacular and we felt so lucky to have seen it on Friday. I called several of my neighbors because i had watched the news all week leading up the big event. I am surprise quite a few people missed it. I would got to Northern Europe to gawk at those lights. I have a lava lamp. It’s “lava” is green and glowing like the aurora!

Glorious images … and for the record, I have an original lava lamp – one given to us as a wedding gift in 1977.

I figured you would pull out more for today!! I seriously wished I had a camera with me but I never mastered night photography. And weren’t we blessed to see them like this!

Yes indeed! I’ll pepper a few more into some future challenges 😊 These were cell phone shots taken with night mode. I felt like I was just the reporter. I’m surprised you didn’t see them more vividly where you live.

Thank you, Xenia! Our rural area of Eastern Washington has perfect viewing for the aurora. I’d never seen the coronas before, and hadn’t seen any online.

It was amazing, wasn’t it! My sister and were on a dark country road, just standing outside the car with our heads back and our mouths open! Stunning. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was so glad I got at least partway north, though later I found out I could have stayed in my own yard and seen them! Your images are beautiful.

Oh no, so sorry, Willow! I’m such a science geek that I made sure to see them. The news built my anticipation so much so that I was stressed waiting for 10pm on Friday night. Yep, I lost sleep, but well worth it. Hope you enjoyed my versions.

the sun spot that created all of this will back around in 2 weeks time. It appears to be very active, so they are suggesting that we might get more fireworks?

Let’s keep an eye on it , nothing wrong with seeing it again! Hope you get to see the show!
