      Oh you saw this! My cell phone. Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra. In night mode. Simple as that. The lights were not colorful to the naked eye. I had to point my phone to a dark spot and shoot. The image appeared exactly how you saw them. Cameras pic up light the human eye cannot. It was still a thrill because the aurora was over our heads and lit up the night sky with glowing white “clouds.” By midnight I could see a bit of the pinks and greens with my eyes. Such a spectacular event to witness.

    That angel looks just like the one that sits on top of our Christmas tree. Now I know what she does for the rest of the year when the tree is not up.

      Oh that’s hilarious, Hugh! Love it, thank you. I shared the angel photo with my brother and he’s the one who said it looked like Jabba the Hut from Star Wars. 🤣

    I’m so glad you got to see them, Teri. I didn’t know about them on Friday night and then stayed up late Saturday and Sunday and saw nothing. My daughter got great photos like you. I told my husband that I now need to go to Norway. 🙂

    Talk about being in the right place at the right time … you were lucky to see this phenomenon Terri. Thanks for the mention for the idea of a lava lamp. I remember when they first came out, everyone was so mesmerized by the moving colors, just like this Northern Lights experience.

    These are wonderful, Terri. My husband longs to see the northern lights but so far, we haven’t. One day perhaps, as one of his sisters lives in Norway. Lava lamps. I remember them, although I didn’t have one.

      Thank you, Janet! When I saw my first aurora in 2022, vague as it was, I thought it was amazing. This event was spectacular and we felt so lucky to have seen it on Friday. I called several of my neighbors because i had watched the news all week leading up the big event. I am surprise quite a few people missed it. I would got to Northern Europe to gawk at those lights. I have a lava lamp. It’s “lava” is green and glowing like the aurora!

    It was amazing, wasn’t it! My sister and were on a dark country road, just standing outside the car with our heads back and our mouths open! Stunning. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was so glad I got at least partway north, though later I found out I could have stayed in my own yard and seen them! Your images are beautiful.

    Unfortunately we missed the TV and radio news we were exhausted and we missed the lights !! Yes we actually slept through them…. Apparently the were right above our town in Berkshire Southern England and we missed them 😞💜💜💜

      Thank you, Wayne. We watch our local news every morning and the meteorologist do a great job explaining the science behind them. Plus I follow a Facebook page dedicated to northern lights in Eastern Washington.
