Just in time to celebrate the spring equinox and last week’s “wearin’ o’ the green” for St. Patrick’s Day, this week’s Sunday Stills theme is all about the color green. Not just any green but “spring” green as seen below. Think of fresh, lively greens as dormant plants and trees open their sleepy blooms to the sky (northern hemisphere).

Two New Ways to Share Your Amazing Photos

WordPress Stories
Have you tried WordPress stories yet? I posted two this week; one was a preview of today’s post. This is done through your mobile device (currently through Android). I had to upload the most updated WordPress app version, so do check it out. If you’ve shared stories through Facebook and Instagram, you know those only last 24 hours then poof into the netherworld they fly only to be seen by you if you remembered to download them. These seem to serve as quick mini-posts and will stay on your blog’s home page, another great way to share. I don’t see ways to link back to the host’s post, but WordPress Stories seems like another fun way to share our talents within WordPress. Here is mine if you missed it! See full article.

Too Busy to Write a Post for a Photo Challenge? Try Sharing in Comments
Last week, I took a page out of Hugh’s Views and News and Joe’s Easin’ Along by sharing an image in my comment section. Sometimes we don’t have time to write a whole post, but sharing an image in the host’s post is almost as productive. Others will likely view the image and visit your blog. Here is how to accomplish this simple task: Sharing image In Comments or Hugh’s Tutorial.

The Good News and Bad News

Lots of major items were checked off the new house last week. The carpet and septic system were both installed. You guessed; this was the good news.

So what pray tell could be the bad news? We’ve been given the green light (ha!) for the impending walk-through, and move the RV onto the property while they finish. Now, how is this bad news, you ask, scratching your head? Well, we will have no Internet until March 31. Oh yes, and I will be in full-on unpacking and moving mode. So, I will be on a two-week blogging break while I get my act together!

Back to the good news! Marsha Ingrao of Always Write will host Sunday Stills on March 28 and April 4. March 28 is “Respect Your Cat Day,” instead of Emerging which is postponed to April 11. April 4 is “volunteering.” The themes will be updated on my Sunday Stills page, with a link to Marsha’s blog. The remaining April themes will be posted soon! Please feel free to follow our moving progress on Facebook and Instagram, and I may be able to share a WordPress story or two!

    Green!! Best color in the world. In my humble opinion. Love your quote about the green of Texas springs and summers. Our far west Texas spring and summer is green but nothing like that of the rest of the state.

    Your hummingbird capture is so clear and detailed. The texture in the feathers. The bit of white fluff. Just beautiful. Love the contrast of the green and pink doorway from Mexico. And the leafy loveliness of spring in the Sierra Nevadas.

    My blog is sick and I am falling behind on all of my posting. But hope to get things back in shape soon.

  16. Stunning images Terri! I always forget how bright green can be. Even the cacti in the Baja desert are starting to show some green leaves!

    Luckily, your bad news isn’t really bad news. Being without internet can be a blessing, as we experienced on the Bahia Concepcion beaches. Finding a balance between work/blogging/writing and leisure is what it’s all about, in my opinion. Happy moving and unpacking! Fun!

  35. Beautiful greenery this week, Terri! NO INTERNET! OMG! Enjoy the peace and quiet for that time. When we were in Yellowstone, I had internet (sometimes) at night. Once in a while on the drive through the park, my phone would starting, ta ding, ta ding, ta ding. Then No Service again. I got bits and pieces, but enjoyed the serenity of disconnecting from the world even for a short 12 days. Yay for Marsha to step up. I would be glad to help if you ever need it. 🙂 Mine is coming sooner rather than later.

    If you’re anything like me, moving is usually something I dread. Nevertheless, all of the hard work will pay off soon. We’re praying for a smooth move for you and Hans. I literally took this picture about five minutes before posting it here. Helen and I are on a short camping trip in North Carolina with a roaring creek running behind our site. The green moss on the bank has a lovely shade of green. Enjoy your “break!” Joe

  43. GREEEEEN is so good for our mental health when we view it in nature…and thanks for the reminder about St Patricks Day..not as widely celebrated here but of course, it was by some.     1. Moving will keep me busy and I’m grateful we have a family nearby to help, Denyse. If my phone cooperates, I can access blogs through outlook or WP app using data. If there is a delay with our internet, the library is close by and I hope a couple of nearby restaurants will let me borrow their Wi-Fi for an hour, LOL!

  44. Wow I love this post, Terri! It’s chocked full of beautiful pictures and helpful information too! Thank you for that! First the pictures – all are wonderful – but I LOVE the ‘Sunflower Bud’ and the ‘Let the blooming begin’ – is that also a sunflower? And I notice you’re showing your camera settings on the pictures in the gallery. Is that something new or did I miss it before?

    Finally, I appreciate you linking to posts that explain how to insert a picture into a comment as I’ve wondered how to do it! I’m hoping to drop by sometime later with some spring green!

    1. Thank you, Susanne! Both of those are my baby sunflowers from last year or 2019. I’m glad you found the post helpful! I didn’t know you could see the camera settings by clicking on the images. Crazy. Not sure how helpful many of them are considering they were taken with mobile phones. :/ Linking images into comments is such a great idea! And it works well in certain cases. I’ll look forward to your greens!

      1. Isn’t that strange about the pictures in the gallery? That must have been a recent update from WP. I just went back and looked at the pictures in my own gallery and even though it doesn’t show the camera settings, it does look different, including a place for comments! I wish they would share release notes with their changes!

      2. Yes I hear ya, Susanne! Hugh Roberts messaged me asking if we still had the WP admin button on our sidebars. We did as of today, but we may lose that too. I log in through the dashboard in my menu bar, so I suppose we shall see any changes coming our way.

      1. e fairly closed to Washing Game site where can walk and see the mountain goats. You can exercise your dog there in the parking /campsite there. . You walk across a bridge. They float the Yakima River. I don’t remember the name of the city that you can access the area. We came in from Yakima.

Still waiting for actual spring here although we’ve had warm afternoons. People up here throw their shorts and sandals on even in 50 degree weather!

    I’m glad you’re taking a break while you move in. Maybe being without wifi is a blessing? Otherwise, you may well have found yourself overwhelmed.

    1. Thanks so much, Hugh! With all that is going on, I used the gallery image in the block editor and simply used previous images. While in the gallery editor, you can add the text! I’m looking forward to getting moved in as we found a local church to attend right away in time for Palm Sunday and Easter, and only 3 miles away. I’m looking forward to a wee break if you can call moving as such 🙂 I hope more bloggers will consider the comment section as an alternative to a post or a combination of the two, and can use yours as an excellent tutorial!

    1. I’m glad you liked the spring images, Donna. I’m envious of course living where it is still colder, but the grass is greening up and spring is close.
