I love ginkgo trees, they are so special. Your photos are beautiful, Terri, especially the close up with all the little details.

Thank you, Sofia! With all of our photos challenges to consider, I’ve learned to take pics of different angles. The ginkgo trees were perfect for Lens artists last week! 💛

I love Ginkgos, not just because they are ancient and don’t have real leaves – but because of their magnificent colour. A wonderful post, Terri!

Thank you, Anne-Christine! They are beautiful in the spring and summer, too. Not real leaves…hmmm, now you have me wondering. 😁

They are more related to conifers and ferns. I f you look closely, you can see the spines making up the leaf! They are living fossils.

Very cool. I looked it up after I read your comment. And the leaves are edible in small doses!

Gorgeous! Love the circles of leaves on the ground, especially.

Thank you, Debbie. The campus groundskeepers and volunteers get a kick out of creating the circles. The ginkgo leaves are perfect for doing so.

Thank you, Linda! This ginkgo Grove is on the Sacramento State university campus. I snapped those shots in 2018, 6 years ago this week!

Oh, I remember now you said that was where you were working at the time – they are beautiful trees. We have them here, but I’ve never seen one.

Kind of like the western larches that turn golden in the fall, both trees are green most of the year. Pretty but not dramatic 😆

I first saw the western larches in your photos – I liked that they were only yellow.

Yes, we’re having some fun with that Terri. I missed your last monumental streak by four days! Bonne nuit, auf wiedersehen.

I had that great streak because I finished German after 5 years. So I restarted the course and sailed through section one in two days. No regrets, my study habits are better now and it’s good to review the basics.

I see – I would restart the course again too … I have a long way to go before I get there. 🙂 Yesterday we got another 25 words. Memorizing new vocabulary words with their genders and accent marks is one thing, but conjugating verbs is the harder part in my opinion.

Oh my Terri, you did a masterful job with this one. I kept thinking I’d seen my favorite until I moved to the next one and then the one after that……you get the idea. The last is indeed my favorite but I loved them all. Perfect for the week’s challenge.

Oh thank you Tina! The ginkgo grove on the university campus was a magical sight every year about this time. I’m so glad I could add this to Lens-Artists this week.

Memories of Dad burning leaves
In the late autumn cold.
Smoke rising in rusette and grey plumes
Memories of days so old

Aww, what a beautiful ode to ginkgo’s gold! If it wasn’t raining so much here this week, people would be burning their leaves here, too.

My comment seems to have been lost in the ether, so I’ll try again. I love the yellow leaves. They and the bright red ones are so beautiful. When the girls were little and we lived in Ohio, they used to love to jump in the leaf piles one we had the leaves raked up. I never minded raking leaves because they were so emblematic of fall and great exercise as well. 🙂

I got both comments, Janet. Sometimes is takes a minute for WP to show them. When my girls were young, they also liked jumping in the mulberry leaves we had.

Thank you, Janet! Autumn is now in full swing in Sacramento. Ours here is barely lingering and snow is in the forecast. At our home in Sacramento we had two huge fruitless mulberry trees that turned yellow in the fall. We also had a Japanese maple that was bright red by early December. The colors really popped.

The university campus has a Grove of the ginkgo trees. This is the time of year to experience their golden yellows. It was funny to see students walking to classes, taking time to snap pics!

Thank you, Anne. I took all these on the Sacramento State campus in 2018. You’ll have to visit this month, when they are in their yellow glory. The ginkgo trees are near the front of campus, where there is visitor parking 🙂
