Lol, thanks, Deb. I figure image captions and a quote or two are sort of wordless….😜

You have taken lot of trouble to get these lovely angles!
Enjoyed watching this work in progress.

Very nice Terri – a good way to enjoy the outdoors without baking under the searing sun.

Thanks, Linda. It really is great to have the cover. Will keep us dry in the winter too.

You’ll be able to grill and eat on the deck with snow piling up around you Terri.
LikeLiked by 1 person
We kind of did that with just the gazebo over the original deck. 🤣
LikeLiked by 1 person
Do you have to reinforce it because of the heavy snowfall?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No the gazebo handles the 3.5 feet of snow…it has a metal roof. Our new cover can handle several feet of snow as per code here.

I see – I was thinking about all those snowy photos you had last year. I bought a snow rake last Winter for my side door awning. We had high winds that loosened it from the wall, so my handyman had to re-cement it and advised me to get a snow rake. I was sweeping off the snow but couldn’t reach all of it.

That’s huge (bigger than our whole garden!) , and perfect for outdoor living with that cover to provide shade 🙂 Hans and his brother have done a great job.

Thank you, Sarah. They are both excellent builders. It’s part of the reason we bought a raw property so we could work on it ourselves. It’s amazing how big 3/4 acres is!

Terri, how wonderful that you can enjoy time outside without having to suffer from extreme heat or cold. It looks excellent. 💖

Looks great Terri. It’s nice to have all those progress photos because, after a while, one forgets how it used to look and what went into building it.

Thanks, Graham. I enjoy taking the pics exactly for that reason.

Terri, you remind me of my brother. He just keeps adding things to the homestead. First, it was a barn, then a barn condo, then an additional room on the barn condo, an RV cover, and now a chicken coop. Oops, I forgot the incredible firepit he and his boys constructed. Be careful, one thing leads to another. I do love your deck. That is a solid addition and a ‘chill’ space that you will use often. Great WiP photos.

Lol, thank you, Suzanne! When you have a raw property it’s amazing what ideas come up to create. Hubby is working on laying the gravel down for our big driveway now. Winter comes fast and hard here. He is soon adding a wood burning stove into the shop to keep it warm for all the indoor projects he wants to do. Thank goodness I married a talented builder. Your brother’s homestead sounds awesome! We only have 3/4 acres to work with which us surprisingly big 😁

Terri, my brother has 11 acres and I think he fully intends to fill it all. I forgot to mention the vegetable garden. I love spending time there.

Where does he live? We toyed with the idea of buying 10-12 acres then settled for ours. Good move since we’re 60+! I almost wish we had another acre then we could build a granny flat for my dad and my step mom.

Terri, he is in a rural part of north Florida – about an hour from the state capitol. It is just a few miles from where we grew up.

Well, it was at least straightforward. Our old house projects are never that. I know the twins worked hard because I’ve helped build decks and it’s a lot of time bending over on a drill.

Hi Terri, my stomach always rolls over when I see building going on. I hate living in a building site. We are having work done to our house currently and it is chaos. It is lovely when it’s done though.

Lol, Robbie. I got used to it especially as we were getting our Sacramento home for sale in 2020. Luckily this is all outdoors and it’s fun to see it all come together. You will be happy when your project is done!

Terri, it’s fun to see the WIP. I like the different colors mixed in there. I really love the long cover. That gives you so much space. It extends the use of the patio for many months – stay out of the rain and extreme sun. It’s perfect. Then the gazabo is another cool area. They did a great job. Such talent!

Thank you, Marsha! We are thrilled with how everything turned out. We had a lot of black stained wood that Hans got from a neighbor’s deck and we integrated it into the deck (my idea), LOL! It’s amazing how much cooler it is under the patio cover. Having that constructed by a paid contractor was well worth it!
