Thank you, Joe! Hard to pic favorites so I went with those images I’ve printed on canvas. I was so happy to surprise the couple (my next door neighbors in Sacramento) with the canvas. They have it hanging in their home, for which I am honored.
Maybe you could fly to Italy and shoot my daughter’s wedding in September. She is having ‘artistic differences’ with the photographer she hired. Lovely photos.
Your set inspired me to share this one, Suzanne. Believe me when I tell you I tried multiple times to capture but Hank kept blinking or something else. I caught them just at the moment someone else took this picture. Lucky. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s experience!
Excellent question and it’s all in the perspective. In Hilo Bay there is a lot of the lava rock around but these surfers had clear paths. No photoshopping needed, not that I know how to use it 🤣

Hard to write when it’s a wordless Wednesday post, too, Jo 🤣. I was so happy to have caught that image of my neighbors. They didn’t have an official photographer so I was honored to help out then surprise them with the canvas print.
So my aha moment happened a few years ago when we were shopping in a quaint mountain town. I stopped intonation art gallery and was so close to buying a beautiful print…my hubby says, don’t you have one like this? That’s when it occurred to me I can enjoy my own artwork for free, lol!
The eagle was definitely my favorite Terri. So your first digital image was taken in 2014 – I’ve actually have you beaten by four years. I would have thought it was much longer for you, so I guess you used a 35mm camera or camera phone before then?
Thank you, Linda. I actually took the autumn River image in 2010 with a digital camera that I borrowed from work. I forget how I took pics back in the day, lol. Definitely no 35mm camera.
Got it Terri – I was going by the copyright/date. I used a Canon 35mm camera in the early 80s, but actually used my Kodak pocket camera more just because it was more convenient – I took it everywhere with me. That camera was workhorse.
I didn’t realize that digital cameras were around 20 years ago Yvette – wow. I am late to tech anyway – we never got Windows/internet at work until Y2K was imminent. I don’t have a smartphone either. I used a Kodak Pocket Camera for years, much more than I used the 35mm. It was a sad day when the film door latch got too loose and let light in and I had to stop using it. You should hunt the pictures down from two decades ago and put one next to a current photo, side by side.
That is a good idea about hunting photos down and out to them side by side – we printed our own photos from 2002 to 2005 and it was not too expensive – ink was cheap and out under 100$ canon printer gave me 8×10, 5×7, and custom sizes! But then it seemed like printers went down hill and ink got wonky – hard to explain – but hardly ever print images and it is easier to order print if needed!
And I think the first folks I know Tonga e a digital camera was in 99!
Oh and Linda guess what? I had my first digital answering machine in fall of 1987! Pause around 100$ for it and it had so pre-recorded message – not sure what I did with it – but
Yes, it would be fun, a kind of “then and now” kind of post. I really didn’t know digital cameras had been around that long – I waited until 2010 to buy one and they were commonplace by then. Now you can use a service like Shutterfly which allows you 100 free prints for joining and by joining I just mean uploading your photos to store them there and they don’t charge for that service.
Hi – we made some photo books with Shutterfly a while ago and just remember it was a great “deal” and about 15 years ago (approx) – I remember it seemed like everyone was sending us family photo holiday cards made by Shutterfly – and Linda – the cards were amazing – trifold or extra large with color and nice matte – and so it seems I have not heard of them for a while and did not realize they were still around ?? I guess so –
And my only problem with storing photos in the cloud is that private photos are open game –
I guess this is the digital world we live in and none of my photos are ever risqué – hahah – but I don’t want them in the cloud – yet I know most are scanned anyhow and I can live with that –
Yvette, I have used Shutterfly to make Christmas cards too – they are nice cards and occasionally they have a deal of 10 free cards, but their shipping and handling is expensive. I don’t send that many Christmas cards anymore and I have some stored up from Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I’m like you and my photos aren’t risque either but it crosses my mind that people could hack into Shutterfly and manipulate pictures and send them out … you never know because the more I read about what people do these days I have to shake my head.
I scanned in all the family albums, scrapbooks and my travel albums in 2017. I also have them on a flash drive in a safe deposit box and an extra flash drive here at the house. So it’s been nice to be able to hop onto Shutterfly to look at the albums which I rarely looked at before as it’s a small house and I had to move too many things to get to where they are kept.
Wow, sounds like a lot of work, but a great idea, Linda. I have a premium Dropbox account and of course Google Images, etc. These ways of storing digital photos works for me now.
Hi Frank! Nice to see you via WordPress! I miss your blog. Thank you for the nice compliments. I caught that eagle at Lake Coeur D’Alene using my trusty Lumix! I’ll never forget your encouragement to purchase one. I paid it forward and recommended it to another blogger who also lives in Washington!
I’ll have to investigate that idea, Frank! Hope all is well with you and any wildfires in CAL are being contained. The best thing about the lumix is even on full zoom, I can print large and not see pixelation.

Thanks, Hugh! Yes, they lived next door to us and I knew the gentleman for the 32 years I lived there. His first wife who had lived there passed away, and he remarried. They got married in December 2018 if I remember correctly, just a little backyard wedding and they had no one designated to take pictures, so I brought my good camera and ended up getting that shot!
Great images Terri. Love the eagle shot. I agree about hanging photos you like. I have about a dozen up here and change them from time to time. I haven’t done canvas prints but have tried metal and like them a lot for how they pop. You give one or two a go.
Lovely selections, Terri. My favorites among your favorites are the waves and the waterfall. Love that the yellow leaves add even more beauty. It was your first digital photo, like first-ever? That’s a great first digital capture.
Thank you, Gift! Yes, the shot of the waterfall was one of my first digital photos. I took a few others for work of our swimming pools and staff with the same camera, borrowed the camera for that trip to Northern California in fall 2010. Essentially that was my first digital landscape. I was thrilled!

All of these are large canvases I had printed. The eagle is 24×28 and the Hilo surfers, the biggest is 3′ x 4′ Thanks, Brian!

They’ve improved over the years. It was a game changer to use my work one–really a good camera until I finally bought my own.

Your Eagle Photo is superb!! Good work on your part. By the bye, someone spotted a bald eagle here in Petaluma a week or so ago.
Their photo, however, was nowhere as good as yours!!
