If you are playing along with the Floral ABCs this week, for each letter, you can share at least one flower, plant or tree. This week we’re exploring those that begin with the letters S, T, U, and V.
For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, fungus, algae, cacti, trees and tree blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.
We are getting down to the last few letters of the alphabet! Thank you all for your support and participation. I appreciate any and all entries, whether they reflect the subtheme or not. I enjoy identifying flowers and learning more about them; I hope you do, too!
Of course, I would share a sunflower for Letter S! (Have you met me?) Look at this bronze beauty, discovered on a farm in Green Bluff, Washington.
I couldn’t resist adding two for T’s. I’ll save the tulips for another day.
For Letter U, I had to hunt through my files! I knew I had the Myrtle Spurge lurking in my media files, and there it is! Yep, I added “Upright” for U because it’s part of the name.
“Upright Myrtle Spurge (Euphorbia rigidia) is a distinctive evergreen perennial with trailing-to-upright stems covered in fleshy, blue-green leaves arranged in neat spirals. In spring, it produces eye-catching clusters of bright yellow-green bracts that resemble flowers.” (SOURCE)
It is considered an invasive species in Washington State. I discovered this plant in the fields near our home.
Last but not least this week, is Letter V. I knew I had a V flower in my files. My Mom LOVED vincas, so I scoured my 20 years of photos in my cloud. They prefer sun but can handle shade and do well in pots.
Periwinkle (Vinca) gets its common name from an ancient Latin name for the plant. Its botanical name, Vinca, has been used in some form for nearly 2,000 years.
Remember, there are no specific themes for the Flower Hour, but please use your own photography from your archives or new images. Your original images reimagined with AI tools in post-editing are also welcome. And you have all week to link to this post.
