The Flower Hour #36: Photo Composition in Bloom

For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, fungus, algae, cacti, tree blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome. Let’s add trees to the mix!

There are no specific themes for the Flower Hour; please use your own photography.

This week, I attempt to meet the Lens-Artists challenge using the composition tools of depth, perspective, and scale. I admit to my lack of training in formal photography. I “know” what looks good and naturally compose images with an artistic eye. But I enjoy learning more with these challenges, thanks, John!

  1. These are beautiful – and perhaps a bit instructive for a rank amateur like me. I love them.

    1. Thank you, Nancy! April here is magical with those “weeds”, the arrowleaf Balsamroot sunflowers. They’re everywhere during the spring!

  3. Well done, Terri. We are alike in our intuitive approach. Yet, you were able to label them by attribute. Brava!

  8. Great gallery, Terri. Superb capture of distance with the mustard flower and the bridge. Amazing! I love the tulips! What an excellent capture from soil level (from the ground up, literally)…a poignant and brilliantly thoughtful perspective.

    1. Thank you, Suzette! I’ve learned si much about photography through blogging. The mustard flower and bridge was one of those aha moments. And my knees were mad after a lot of squatting and stooping at the tulip farm. Well worth it 😆

  10. You’ve met the challenge for sure, Terri. Great examples. The scale of those magnificent trees is really brought out by the person walking, but my favorite is that perspective on the tulips.
