Let’s end the month of May with a better-late-than-never celebration of bicycles! May was National Bicycle Month according to SOURCES.

Years of Cycling in Sacramento
I LOVED the American River Bike Trail in Sacramento when we lived nearby. I miss the easy access to the trail, just 9 minutes by bike, from our former home.
On the bike trail, I enjoyed miles of views of the American River, as well as the variety of cyclists and fitness enthusiasts.

According to this SOURCE, the trail is 32 miles (51 km) long and is used as a major recreational destination, as well as a commuter artery for cyclists. The trail is considered one of the longest paved purpose-built bike trails in the country.

“Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race.” – H.G. Wells
A little public art in Riverbend Park, donated and dedicated by Sacramento Wheelmen in 2007.

This was my last ride in October 2020 before we moved to Washington.

Sacramento State University, where I studied for two degrees and later worked as a Lecturer, is easily reached by the bike trail, resulting in many bike racks on campus.

The Sacramento State University Aquatic Center at nearby Lake Natoma offered students the opportunity to ride a water bike for the first time!

Here in Nine Mile Falls, we have the amazing Centennial Trail nearby, but I can’t ride my bike to it. Rather, I have to load my bike into the back of the car or hubby’s truck and drive down the “treacherous” rural highway to the trail.

If you love the beach, bicycling on a beach boardwalk is also exciting and refreshing.

“Riding in threes brings camaraderie and shared experiences on the road.” – Unknown

Not Just Bicycles …
This pink motorcycle and sidecar for a faithful dog just cracked me up!

At my daughter’s wedding in 2023, the bride and groom struck a pose on his motorcycle, which proved to be quite practical in San Diego for easy parking and maneuverability.

Last but not least, we were surprised to see this talented unicyclist!
