Partially inspired by Egidio’s “Stuck in Place” theme for Lens-Artists Challenge this week, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to show off our local blooming Dogwood Trees that we enjoyed in mid-May, here in Northeastern Washington.

We don’t have to travel more than a few hundred yards to see several Dogwood trees in our neighborhood. We have one in our yard, a small one only 5 years old. It didn’t yield many blooms this year.

However, in just a few steps down the street to my neighbor’s house there is a Dogwood tree that is more mature and always puts on a great show.

During my quest to see Dogwood tree blooms, I came across this:

The Legend of the Dogwood Tree

I created this graphic, but summarized the words from a variety of online sources. There is no one source for this legend. I grew very emotional over its meaning.
