Beautiful! One of these days, I hope to visit Yellowstone. I’ve been to so many western national parks, I can’t believe I haven’t been there. Was this time of year a good time to go there? (temp/crowd-wise)? Where did you stay?

Thank you, Janis! It took us 65 yrs to get here. September is a great time to go. Fewer crowds, cooler weather. Having the lifetime NP pass get you through the gate faster. We used our travel trailer and camped in KOA west Yellowstone. It was still a longer drive from Eastern WA, but not bad. If you can plan 3-4 whole days there its worth it.

They are cool customers, Brian. Like giant cattle with huge heads that can toss a human 20 feet into the air. Unless you mean to eat! 😆

I have visions of the huge herds that used to inhabit the plains of the US. Wouldn’t that have been a sight to see 😲

The bison herds are protected in Yellowstone and are making a good comeback. The small herds we saw were breathtaking!

I have read about the Bison in Yellowstone. Also how the reintroduction of Wolves has helped re-establish the ecosystem from the destruction by Elks

That’s great! The bison herds have improved the grassland ecosystems as well…introducing all that nitrogen into the soil, improving the grasses. So fascinating how everything works together.

Thank you, Hazel! Today we got to see a bison a mere 25 feet away…we stayed in our truck. Do you have water buffalo where you are?

Yeah, we have many water buffalo here. In my surroundings. Papa has two, thank God.
How amazing to see closer to bisons. Are they dangerous?

Water buffalo and North American bison are distant cousins 🙂 Bison can be dangerous if provoked or scared. Males weigh 2000 pounds! The national park warns people to stay 75 feet away. Today we were very close. But I hid behind our truck. LOL!

From what I remember, and what I’ve seen through other people’s eyes and lens is that it’s an amazing place that I’m sure I could spend weeks exploring and not get enough.

I find your bison very interesting to look at. Are they aggressive?

They are found only on the North American continent and have been in this area since the last ice age, Robbie. They can be aggressive and the internet is full of images of dumb people trying to pet them. And they get tossed or gored. Male bison mature to 2000 pounds!

Sure! Seems that buffalo are found in Europe. Buffalo and bison are related and are members of the same family as cattle. A Park Ranger told us that today.

We have Cape buffalo here in Southern Africa. They are aggressive if provoked 🤗

Nothing says quiet as the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone with the bison roaming free. Beautiful series!

We have three entire days, one day we go up to Bozeman, Montana for the day. I didn’t know there was so much more to see than the Old Faithful Geyser and herds of bison!

Yes, there were all the geysers, and the land scapes. We stayed there 2 nights in different lodges.

I love Yellowstone Park. Visited a few years back on a motorcycle. Amazing! Your pictures are wonderful.

I wanted to stop and take pictures of the bison but hubby said they could charge us and knock the Honda Goldwing over. Yikes. I just bought post cards.

First timers, wow. I remember when there was just a small wooden fence around Old Faithful. My kids were young then. My youngest in a stroller. Now, at our last visit, there was a gallery of stands to see old faithful. Enjoy!

I can imagine Yellowstone being a rustic destination back in the day, Anne. Now it’s a worldwide destination! We’re at the north entrance today checking out Mammoth Springs area.
