  1. These are sandstone formations that formed at the bottom of a inland sea. You are looking back in time with older layers being at the bottom and the youngest at the top.
    Water has carved them as sandstone is a soft sedimentary deposit. Because of the thickness and the sediment being similar, that tells me the environment did not change over a long span of time.
    If you were to inspect each grain of sand, you would find that each one is as unique as each snowflake.
    Nature has eroded its self to reveal its inner beauty.

  2. That area would certainly make you feel very insignificant. Amazing and looks similar to parts of Australia where the sea once was and has carved out areas of the land. We also have places in NZ down in the South Island, though not quite as dry and expansive.
