The Flower Hour #40: Floral ABCs Focusing on GHI

Now that school is out, let’s have some summer fun with our ABCs! This week, we’re sharing three flowers (or plants, or trees!)) that begin with the letters G, H, and I. They don’t have to be blooming or in season right now—anything from your archives is welcome.

If you’re stumped, feel free to get creative and use the scientific name.

For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, fungus, algae, cacti, trees and tree blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.

You do not have to participate in this theme at all; simply share a flower of your choosing, as long as it is your original photograph!

I’m also adding a level of difficulty to meet Dan’s Crayola Box Color Challenge: PURPLE.

Let’s see how well you know your GHI flowers. I will identify each flower at the end of the post. These will be easy 😉

Plant H

Plant I

Anyone can join the Flower Hour with their original photos. You can also use AI tools to edit or reimagine your images. New flower images are welcome, and archived images are encouraged. You have all week to link to this post.

New to The Flower Hour photo challenge? Please check out my page for more information! I encourage “double-dipping” with other blog challenges if you do not want to create a separate post.

Join me next week as we take a look at flowers in planters.

A Look-Ahead, for the planners…

I’ve only got three glads in my garden this year, and I’m still waiting for them to bloom. Last year’s purple was amazing.

  9. All royal-looking flowers Terri and they are all very beautiful! I did get all three of these names. My beautiful Twist-and-Shout Hydrangeas bloomed profusely until the groundhog decided they would be a tasty treat. He/she must’ve yanked them out by the roots as they didn’t come back the following Spring – grrr to the groundhog!

    1. Thank you, Nancy! I’ve had love-relatonships with hydrangeas. One of mine froze 3 yrs ago in the pot. I tried to resurrect it by planting it in the garden bed. Still a failure. I put her back into the pot, with her own dedicated water line and she’s coming back. Over winter ill put the whole pot in the utility room 😁 Fingers crossed she’ll bloom in 2027!

I thoroughly enjoyed testing my knowledge with your G-H-I flowers. The Gladiolus, Hydrangea, and Bearded Iris are all stunning, and their beautiful shades of purple fit the Crayola Color Challenge perfectly. Each photograph captures not only the beauty of the blooms but also the joy of observing nature with a creative eye.
