The Flower Hour #37: Patriotic Florals

For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, fungus, algae, cacti, trees and tree blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.

Anyone can join the Flower Hour with their original photos. You can also use AI tools to edit or reimagine your images. New flower images are welcome, and archived images are encouraged. You have all week to link to this post.

As the US Independence Day looms closer on July 4th, I wanted to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the US with patriotic florals this week.

Composite flowers, like chrysanthemums and Echinacea, can often appear very much like fireworks exploding in the night sky. SOURCE

Neighborhood Firework Finale 2024!

Do you agree that fireworks resemble chrysanthemums?

Our former Sacramento neighborhood boasted gorgeous Crape Myrtle shrubs. They bloomed in June and July, and their shape looked like fireworks. Sadly, I have very few pictures and most are of poor quality. Here is my re-imagined Crape Myrtle.

  1. It doesn’t quite follow your patriotic theme (although yellow does go with Brazilian national colors), here’s my entry:

  10. I’ve never seen Crape Myrtle. but a few North Carolina bloggers have featured it in their posts through the years and it is exquisite looking. I hope you have a safe holiday as well Terri. I won’t be leaving the house, between this horrible heat wave and the prediction for stormy weather Friday through Monday. This is my post from Sunday with those pretty Peonies, Rhododendrons and Viburnum.

    Buggies and blooms.

    1. Thank you, Linda. I didn’t know for the longest time when we lived in Sacramento. I called them fireworks trees. 😄 The pink one was right across the street in our neighborhood. Don’t go out if you don’t have to. We could go watch fireworks locally, but we like to stick around the property with a hose at the ready.

  17. Fireworks may have been inspired by flowers. There is a distinct resemblance. Have a wonderful celebration, Terri.

  19. Happy 4th July, Terri. I love your theme and the wonderful fireworks image…which, I agree, looks like chrysanthemums. Great job with the graphics on your post. The new ABC badge is delightful…letters all in flowers; that looks to me as though that was quite time-consuming. Great work!

    1. This will be our 5th July 4th holiday here. Our county allows aerial fireworks which put on a great show, but we like to be home and have the hose ready just in case. Thank you, Graham!
