The Flower Hour #35: Floral ABCs

For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, fungus, algae, cacti, blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.

Now that school is out, let’s have fun with our ABC’s. This month, we’ll post three flowers (or plants) that begin with the letters A, B, and C. They do not have to be in season now. If you are stumped, please use the scientific name of the flower or plant.

You do not have to participate in this theme at all; simply share a flower of your choosing, as long as it is your original photograph!

Let’s see how well you know your flowers. I will identify each flower at the end of the post.

Shades of Pink Azaleas
Plant A
Pink and white bougainvillea
Plant B
golden torch cactus flower
Plant C

New flower images are welcome, and archived images are encouraged.

New to The Flower Hour photo challenge? Please check out my page for more information! I encourage “double-dipping” with other blog challenges if you do not want to create a separate post.

  1. Fun challenge Terri! Bougainvillea was the only one I recognized before checking the answers.
I only have one ABC flower this week, as I believe my yellow blooms are Crown Daisy (Glebionis coronaria),🌻but they were popular with a variety of tiny visitors.🪰

  7. What a fun theme! I easily came up with an ABC list in my head, but struggled as I continued to think through the alphabet. I’ll have to give this some solid thought as I putter around the garden and land this week. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Thank you, Melissa! I dipped into my archives myself and had to change one I thought worked for C. I’ll post about every 2 weeks through 3 letters of the alphabet through September.

  8. What a fun idea Terri. I saw it when I came over to link up and then went back and added to my post. These are so pretty. I’ve never had luck growing azaleas even though they seem to grow EVERYWHERE!!!

  10. I meant to ask did you AI generate the alphabet with the flowers? 2 F’s for flowers?

    1. Yes I did, WordPress made it. Now I’ll have to change it. Two Ms as well! 😆😆😆

    1. Thank you, Linda! I suppose bougainvillea and cactus don’t grow where you live! I have lots of bougainvillea in my files from years visiting San Diego.

  14. That would imply I knew what I was looking at!!! I did a trio yesterday of Aster (?), Flax & Yarrow so I started out well (maybe). Your pictures are always so stunning! The wind was playing havoc with the flowers so I did the best I could!

  15. Are you carrying on with D, E, F next week, Terri? They’re all lovely, but I wasn’t sure about the cactus flower xx

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I think i cheated with the cactus flower for letter C, Jo 😆 I planned another flower but it’s an “E” flower. After some thought and encouraging words from my fellow bloggers, like you, I’m scheduling the ABC challenge every 2 weeks. DEF will post on July 5. From there every 2 weeks until the end of September. I’d love you to join us when you can. And if the plant doesn’t go with the alphabet choices at the right time, oh well… 😆 I’m easy!

    1. There are names for each and every one too! Hooray for getting back your LR, what a relief!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Yes, I have Chatty to thank for that. I don’t think it’s quite perfect yet. Some of my photos in my post today are repeats from years ago, and I couldn’t find all the originals in LR or anywhere else. Then I found that I had somehow deleted a bunch of photos out of my one drive. So I undeleted them, and I’ll see what happens.
