The Flower Hour #27: Daffodils Celebrate Earth Day

For the Flower Hour, share your images of flowers, gardens, fields of flowers, seasonal leaves and plants, fungus, algae, cacti, blossoms, berries, and wildflowers. Bouquets and silk/faux flowers are welcome.

There are no specific themes for the Flower Hour; just use your own photography.

Earth Day falls on Wednesday, April 22, this year. Here in North Eastern Washington, the daffodils have peaked!

One of the places we visited on our road trip was the Empire Mine State Historic Park, located in Grass Valley, in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California. This park, rich in history and natural beauty, was once the site of one of California’s largest gold mines.

We strolled through the meticulously maintained gardens, where vibrant flowers added bursts of color to the landscape, and discovered that the daffodils were happily blooming here in late March. More about the gardens next week.

    Your post reminded me of this poem.
    Very beautiful pictures of different daffodils. It’s such a nice experience to be surrounded by beautiful flowers. They’re mind-healing! 😇

    • Oh my heart, what a beautiful, perfect poem to describe the daffies, Sana! A nearby neighbor has a crowd of them along her fences and driveway…a crowd indeed. I’m sharing that pic for my Sunday Stills challenge “gardens.”

  16. Oh, how I love daffodils! When we were at our summer home this past February for two weeks. It was below 0°, but I brought out my faux daffodils to warm up the kitchen!
    I can not believe all the places you visited on your road trip. Wow!

    • Thank you, Nancy! My daffies outside are peaking now and my faux ones are living the dream inside 😄 My tulips also just bloomed.

      We really visited a LOT of places during our 40 day trip. I have blog fodder for months! It’s 75 here today which is 15 degrees over the average! I have news about Arizona that will be fun to share soon. Not moving but sharing a vacation house with my brothers in Payson! Talk soon.

  17. Gorgeous photos, Terri. The daffodils come alive on the screen with your picture-perfect depth of field and crisp details. I had not heard of the Double White Lion Daffodil before…elegant blossoms. Daffodils seem to be California’s “new gold” …a symbol, perhaps, of how well nature endures.
