Welcome back to Sunday Stills this week as I attempt to tell stories through photos and color challenges. My two-week schedule is going along nicely for me–less pressure to prepare a new post each week.
For the next two weeks, we’ll examine metallic objects. Metal is a popular choice for holiday decorations at any time of year. Metals are also used for furniture, toys, and other items, from A for aircraft to Z for zippers and 98 more in between!
Let’s Start in the Kitchen
My daughter sent me an 8-quart stainless cookpot for my birthday! I adjusted items on my shelf to accommodate it and added the fun filter.

While I’m in the kitchen, I try to use my gorgeous Kitchen-Aid stand mixer.

I’m still in awe of my sister-in-law’s warm kitchen. Look at that oven!

Fort Vancouver’s kitchen boasted metal and glass lanterns.

Christmas Decor Around the House
“Colored lights blink on and off, racing across the green boughs. Their reflections dance across exquisite glass globes and splinter into shards against tinsel thread and garlands of metallic filaments that disappear underneath the other ornaments and finery.” – Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration
Having not put up a Christmas tree this year, my metallic options were limited. Here are some tree ornaments from past years in gleaming colors of silver, gold, and blue.

Outdoors
Hubby has been working endless days in the cold garage/shop/pole barn to insulate and place drywall in half of the space. The tell-tale smoke lets me know he’s warmish. It’s his last chance to make progress until we take our road trip!

Can you count the number of metallic items in this image? Your guess is as good as mine 😉

Our metal satellite dish took a beating one winter!

The birds don’t mind perching on the cold metal if food is nearby.

Snow’s Last Chance for a White Christmas
Another mere dusting of snow on our deck last week. It is melted now. 😨
