Many thanks, John! 30+ people at our Thanksgivings as a rule, but I’m not the host 😅 I hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving.

Hi Terri
We don’t have such a big table – but we wouldn’t invite 30 people anyway. And oh dear, we don’t like to eat turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving

Thank you! Luckily that big table belonged to my sister-in-law’s home. The good thing about going to eat somewhere else, is NO leftovers.

A+ for all of your turkeys Terri! I’ve never seen them really fly so the top of the pole image really got my attention! Loved the quotes.

Thank you, Tina! We’d see flocks of them in Sacramento and I was also surprised when they flew up to the pole then to the trees. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🦃

I can’t imagine catering for 30 guests, Terri. I hope the chef had some help, especially with the washing up.
I wonder if those were the turkeys that had a pardon from the President?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family.

Last year, there were 40 of us at several Thanksgiving tables, Hugh! Both my SILs are amazing chefs as well as their adult kids. All we do is show up with a bottle of wine.
I’m surprised how many wild turkeys we’ve seen here and even near our Sacramento home. Pardoned or not, they sure showed some gumption by flying up into the trees. Thank you, Hugh!

And they call birds “bird brains” – those two turkeys were smart perching up high. Maybe not the most comfortable perch though. 🙂 Your turkey is big Terri, so fingers crossed he/she is still roaming about free as the proverbial bird. I like all your quotes, but the one by Thoreau I like the best!

Thank you, Linda! The ones perched on the power pole eventually flew into our huge pine tree. 20+ Others were right behind them 🤣🦃

Wow – that must have been quite a sight to see that many turkeys in one tree! So the descriptive word “turkey” is a misnomer – they are smart to be vigilante this time of year!

It was wild 😜 The other day, driving along our rural highway, I suddenly saw several turkeys running across the road. I slowed down, and honked. Two that were about to cross, turned tail and ran. That’s when I saw the other 50 waiting! 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I forget how much dense forest is around here. I would have been late to an appt had I waited and wondered why the turkeys crossed the road. 😜

Ha ha – we did have something funny happen in a city about six miles from me a few years ago, when two rogue turkeys would hang out in a wooded area in the median between two busy highways. The pair would run out of the trees into the road usually at a large intersection. People would wait for them to get out of the road, but patience would wear thin and they’d start honking, which didn’t faze the turkeys in the least. I remember thinking I should drive over there to get a photo of them., but they weren’t there on a regular basis. The local newspaper showed a couple of police officers trying to shoo them off the road and one officer taking his jacket to help move it along. I don’t know what happened to them? I hope they were relocated, perhaps to a rural area and didn’t end up on someone’s holiday table.

Happy Thanksgiving, Terri! If I was a turkey, I would definitely go on a diet around this time of year! Best to appear skinny and stringy. 🙂
Will you be in SD at any time over the holidays?

We are heading to Arizona early this year to spend Christmas with my dad. We’ll be staying in SD between Jan 4-14. We HAVE to get together!

Haha, I think she got away unscathed, Wayne! I captured this shot in Sacramento from our backyard as at least 20+ wild turkeys flew up from the street to the top of the power pole, then flew into our huge redwood tree to roost. It was quite a sight to see! You already celebrate Thanksgiving, so happy holidays as they come!
