Terri that’s such a beautiful post !
Glorious yellow sunflowers
Gracing fields as far as the eye can see
Enhanced by warm sun and gentle showers
Make all your sorrows flee.

Thank you, Willow. These wild sunflowers literally fill the forest floor and hillside in April and May. Your poem is perfect 🌻

We’ve been unnaturally warm. We just had a wicked thunderstorm! So, now the cold front will move through and cool us back down.

Thank you, Diana! Happy spring! Oh we have dandelions and I read they are good for the yard and environment. Now to convince hubby not to pull them LOL!

Oh, that’s good to know! We let them be (except when the lawn mower comes around).

When I first saw these in May 2020 while visiting our property, I was so thrilled that wild sunflowers grew here. Less work for me to plant my own, although I really enjoyed cultivating domestic sunflower seedlings.

Your sunflowers seem way ahead of ours, Terri. I’m guessing this is an early flowering-variety?

Yes, these are the wild arrowleaf sunflowers that bloom in April until the end of May. Then the domestic sunflowers start making an appearance. I can’t complain, Hugh. 🌻

Lucky you, Terri. I never see sunflowers until at least July. Enjoy every moment of them.

I feel blessed, Hugh, to live in an area where sunflowers bloom 7 months a year!

It’s fun to watch these bloom, especially after a warm sunny day. Can’t wait to see the forest floor covered with them 🌻🌻

We have the Spring Beauties on the forest floor, but they are low and kind of nondescript, nothing like your flowers.
