  2. Great leapin’ lizards, that would take a leap of faith to do this! Were you injured when you came down or was there a net?

    1. We were attached to a heavy duty seat harness, and the course leaders belated us down. Totally safe!

  4. Wow! That took a lot of courage, Terri! Good for you for being so brave. ❣️

    1. Thanks, Eugi! It was a thrill. I had taken up windsurfing in 2009 which was more my speed 😅

      1. You’re welcome, Terri. I can only imagine how thrilling it was.

  5. Whoa. I don’t like heights (now that I’m older) and I can’t see myself leaping into the air like that, Terri. But when I was younger? Good for you for taking the leap!

    1. I’m not sure my poor knees can handle the climbing part of the element any longer, Diana! At least I gave it a go when I was in my 50s, LOL!

  6. I’d have given it a go, Terri. However, without looking down. Eyes forward all the time would have been the order of the day for me.

    Happy Leap Day.

    1. Great to hear, Hugh! I tried not to look down while on “the dive.” The hardest part of this element was climbing up the tree and pole and having to unhook the harness and re-hook it to another line. Most of the guys jumped and managed to hold onto the trapeze. Definitely eyes forward!

  7. You’re very brave, Terri! It wouldn’t occur to me to do anything like that.

    1. Thank you, Stevie, the students motivated me. There were some elements I did not try. 😃

    1. Even with a harness, climbing up the tree, my heart was pounding. Pretty thrilling, Toni.

    1. Thanks, Brian! I ended up doing this every semester for 6 years. You seem like the adventurous type!

      1. Not as much now, my brain gets into control more than my enthusiasm. I used to be able to do a straight up jump onto a wall, now it’s a scramble and belly roll 😂😂

  12. I agree about that only transportation, Terri! I have been there many many times.

    1. Thank you, Donna! When I accompanied my students to the challenge courses, the course leaders took time to explain and demo how the harnesses worked and impressed me with the fact that the harness could safely hold a Volkswagen beetle in the air. I was literally hooked 😉

  18. Is Leap Day akin to New Year’s Day? Time for new beginnings? Sounds inspiring, and I admire your daredevil attitude. 🙂

    1. I guess it could be, Debbie. It’s nice to get an extra “day!” I’ve been known to try new things and back then my students were very encouraging 😃

    1. The Challenge Ropes course was fun to be a part of while I was teaching, Jacqui. The trapeze on “The Dive” looked so far away and was grabable, but most women can’t hold on. I put a lot of faith in that harness. Enjoy your extra day tomorrow!
