Twin Doors

Sunday Stills: #Double Delights

Are you seeing double? I’m sure your eyes are OK, but this week’s theme features things that are double or appear in twos. These can be identical, two of something similar, or two similar images, as shown below.

Garden Double-Takes

There are a lot of doubles and pairs found in the garden that include flowers and plants…

Double sunflowers

…don’t forget about insects!

Double Trouble with Twins

Don’t Hans and his twin look like they are double-trouble?

I did a double-take as I shot this at the Grand Canyon in the winter of 2020. The twins featured were part of a group of Japanese tourists.

*I’ll be taking a 10-day break starting July 26th, while my family is visiting. I will read, comment and share your links when I can. I won’t be able to add the round-up of posts, so please visit other participants’ links in the comment section. 😊

I’m happy to say we’re taking a two-day road trip to Radium Hot Springs in British Columbia, Canada the first week in August. Finally!…since we only live two hours’ driving distance from the Canadian border! I’ll be back with some fun pics of that experience. Thank you for being such loyal readers and participants in the Sunday Stills Challenge.

  1. So much to like about this post, Teri. The pictures to start with–Nature at its best. But the blogging ideas, too. “Remember to title your blog post a little differently than mine.”–so Google is happy and doesn’t see it as a reprint. “visit other participants’ links in the comment section”–something lots of us forget. Kudos to you!

    • Thank you, Jacqui! I see a lot of duplicate post titles from other bloggers on other photo challenges. Why would anyone want to repeat a post title? I always encourage participants to be creative with the theme and write a compelling title to capture their own readers. I appreciate your comment. 😁

  2. I love the picture of the hummers 😂 That’s a great shot. And the tourist twins, they were very brave standing there! This was a fun post to get together. I didn’t realise I had so mant twos.

Have a wonderful visit with your family 😊

  3. I like all your pairs, including Hans and Ernst. You have quite a collection of pairs here. The double eagle was my favorite. Wave “hi” to Wayne while you are in B.C. Canada is my homeland and I’ve only been to Ontario. Safe travels Terri.

    • Double thank you, Linda 😁 Those eagles were taken at Lake Coeur d’Alene, an hour’s drive from home. I hope to go back next November when they are hunting kokanee salmon. We’ll barely be in BC, but I’ll wave to all my Canadian friends! I didn’t remember you are from Canada!

      • I know Wayne gets a lot of bear shots and eagle shots during the salmon run. Yes, I moved here with my parents in 1966, but I am still a Canadian citizen. A relative of mine moved to Victoria, B.C. to open up an antiques store about 30 years ago – he was alone and ended up moving back to Guelph, Ontario as he missed everyone. He is gone now, but I wish we had at least visited. He sent us a book with lots of photos of Butchart Gardens and the Victoria area trying to lure us to come for a visit or to stay.

  4. Love them all Terri, even the evil twins 😂 The sunsets, birds – those Eagles 🥰, but the flowers started my inspiration to do a post, same as the pair of Dotted Blue Butterflies, but my little Line Blues are together in a different way 😁

  5. Loved seeing the swallows in your hands! Wow! And the double Eagles… Wow! Wow! The Oops was cool too!
Have a wonderful vacation with your family! Looking forward to all your pictures!

  6. These are fun photos, my friend. Imagine being able to catch two birds and be able to hold them for long enough to get a picture. Both the twin pictures are cute. The sunflowers are spectacular, but then so are the eagles. So many good ones, my friend. And your wording is so clever. Have a great trip, and enjoy your family time. We will miss you! 🙂

    • Double and triple thank-you’s, Marsha! Both times the swallows were each a little stunned when I gently extricated them out of the stove. Other than a little ash, they were just fine and after a photo op, I let them out and they flew away! We are having a blast with Dale and Carey. They are both in work mode this morning–we have Carey set up out in the RV–office space, LOL! He’s loving it. The rest of the brood arrives tomorrow and we have a big BBQ planned for the evening here. Can you believe we are going to celebrate 3 milestone wedding anniversaries this year? 5, 10, and 20! And yes we have champagne!

  7. Kudos to you for finding so many doubles, Terri. Are you sure you hadn’t had a few glasses of Midnight Moon before taking the photo of that two-headed hummingbird?

I thought I would not be able to find any doubles in my photo archive, but I was surprised by what I found.

I hope my entry does not make you feel too hungry.

Have a wonderful time with your family and on your quick retip to Canada.

  8. Yay for your fun selections – flowers, birds, eagles (because they’re extra special seen together like that so I had to name them separate from other birds), sets of smoking, and nonsmoking twins – and that hummer photo is so cool 😂! Thanks for hosting all the fun challenges for July. I’ll see you back here in August 😊 Enjoy your time with your family and your trip to Canada!!

  9. Terri,
I doubled my pleasure reading your post. Great shots, all of them. Enjoy your trip and your blogging break. I feel like I’ve been on one all summer, but I’m getting ready to hit the road, which will recharge the batteries. Stay safe out there! Joe
