As always, I welcome you to my photo challenge feature, Sunday Stills. This week, we’re focusing on windows and the stories they can tell us.

Several years ago, we spent some time in Baja Sur, Mexico, during the winter, where windsports rule each day. In this image, I captured the sunrise through the windows (also shown in the featured photo), marking the promise of a new day.

When we stayed in Baja, at 7 o’clock sharp, the winter dawn always greeted us (I mean me). Grabbing my phone, I shot many a sunrise over the Sea of Cortez. I’m not sure how many times I’d shout, “Honey, you gotta see this,” to my sleeping husband.

Architectural Windows
The “House on the Rock” is an iconic house built on a large rock outcropping at the tip of Arrow Point on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This was one of many amazing views from the tour boat. Apparently, someone lives here! I almost shouted, “Honey, you gotta see this,” but he wasn’t on the boat with me 😉

After spending time at Seattle’s Alki Beach, we drove along the peninsula. As I sat in the back seat of the car, this was the view from my window. A condo unit filled with windows. But the view of Mt. Rainier in the distance subtly stole the show. I shared this photo with my daughters and said, ‘You gotta see this!”

In Roslyn, Washington, where the 1990s TV show Northern Exposure was filmed, this was the window that served as the clinic for Dr. Joel Flieshman.

Framed within Automobile Windows
During our recent travels, we came across some interesting windows. While walking in downtown Seattle, did my eyes deceive me, or was that a cute dog in the car window? And wearing a hat?

While visiting Marsha in August, we took an evening walk around her brother’s Portland, Oregon, neighborhood. As we turned the corner back to the house, I noticed how nice my new car looked, especially framed by Mt Hood in the distance!

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” ― Confucious
During our first day driving in Yellowstone National Park, we noticed the clouds reflected in the back window of this van.

Back at home, I captured the morning’s sun through our transom window on the day of the Autumnal Equinox.

“What light through yonder window breaks?” – William Shakespeare
But with all these windows, someone needs to clean the high-rise windows in downtown Spokane, Washington!
