Words for Wednesday: Until We Meet Again, Dad!

,

After 88 years and 9 months, my sweet dad, Tom Webster, passed into Heaven last Saturday, April 12. We spent many wonderful days last Christmas and through January visiting him and our families in Arizona, visiting, talking, and EATING.

Dad Waves Goodbye

“This is the price you pay for having a great father. You get the wonder, the joy, the tender moments ― and you get the tears at the end, too.” ― Harlan Coben

We are in the midst of planning Dad’s funeral services, which will take place in Fountain Hills, Arizona, on Memorial Day Weekend. Because Dad was a Navy Korean War Veteran, an Honor Guard Detail will be present to play Taps and present the American Flag to his wife (my step-mom). 😢

Please see my updated Sunday Stills page; my posting schedule has changed to accommodate our travel in May.

Remember, to those who participate in the Sunday Stills challenges, I am publishing the next Sunday Stills challenge on Monday, April 21.  But feel free to publish your post on Sunday and throughout the week as usual, then grab the link when it goes live on Monday morning. The theme for that week is Earth Day, which officially falls on April 22nd.

  1. Salute. Life well-lived. Thank you for your service to our country, kind sir. You sure were a cutie. And had an obvious enthusiasm for life.

Terri, thinking of you as you make the arrangements for your father’s memorial and services. I can tell in these photos just how much he meant to you. Our parents were of a very special generation and I am afraid we are losing the best of the best with their passing. Praying your many happy memories will help bring you comfort during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing him with us.

    1. Thank you, dear Leslie, for your eloquent comments. I feel better every day, but wow, grief pops up when you least expect it. I’m thinking he’s swapping stories with the Pope…both born in 1936, both 88 years old, and passed within a week of each other ❤️✝️

  6. This is a poignant tribute to your dad Terri. You had nice photos of him as well as the two of you, including the recent Christmas photo that I mentioned in my comment to you on Sunday. My favorite pic was you and Dad with you wearing your Brownie uniform. I’m sorry for your loss and so close to the Easter holiday as well.

    1. Thank you, Linda! I wish I could find the original pic of me in my Bluebird uniform with Dad. It might be in a scrapbook. I remember your big Pic scanning project. I may be doing a smaller version of that shortly. I always appreciate your comments!

      1. That scanning project took four days over Thanksgiving weekend 2017, but was one of the best decisions I’ve made as I’ve incorporated many photos into my blog and a couple of mouse clicks and I’m perusing the albums, albeit many raw images still need tweaking. So Bluebirds is with Campfire Girls per Google. I was a Brownie, but I figured the Canadian uniforms were different. I was a Pioneer Girl after moving to the States. Fun times! Thank you. Have a blessed Easter Terri.

I was a Bluebird, then moved back to California and became a girl scout. Both great organizations!
