Thank you, Susanne! I’m excited to plant dahlias this year. But I can’t believe our weather temps went from 73F yesterday to 53F today.

Yikes! Our weather has been so volatile this spring!

Yellow orange Dahlia is fantastic!

Thank you, Mr Philo! I hope to plant some dahlias of my own soon. I took that one in Portland, OR.

Fantastic pictures, Terri. I don’t know which I like more – yellow, yellow-orange is a winner. If I had to finally choose a winner, it would be the poppies. Something about the softness and the sun in them makes it exquisite.

Thank you, Smitha! After I selected these for the post, I realized three were yellow/orange. Poppies are my favorite. We don’t see many of them where we live. I snapped that one when we were in Northern California a few years ago.

what fun I was inspired to post Four Seasons as well because I was suddenly reminded of Princess Summerfall Winterspring from Howdy Doody!

Such lovely blooms! 💖 I was especially drawn to the California poppies and the Dahlias. We’re still waiting for spring here, with nasty weather most of the week. Supposed to get better by the weekend, but not much is happening on the flower front yet.

Thank you, Debbie! We barely have any blooms yet, either. Some wildflowers are popping up, but gray skies and rain are on the way, which will get things growing I believe. I have some dahlias I’m going to plant about the middle of the month.

Stunning pics … yet a fitting sight for early spring. After all, those sights are to come.

Thank you, Frank! Now that we live in the colder north, I’m looking for winter florals like snowdrops. Poppies don’t grow wild here, but I have a LOT of pics!

Terri,
Dahlias are my absolute favorite. Although they have no fragrance, they still rock a garden. We’re having a spring with freezing temperatures at random, so we’re waiting a little longer to plant a new crop. I’m sharing an image of some California Poppies we drove by in White Sands, NM a few years ago. Enjoy the rest of your week! Joe

Dahlias are quite sublime, Joe. Wow, that poppy image does my soul good–we don’t see those here.

Those are all stunners. It’s still brown here, but the leaves are budding out.

Thank you, just getting back into the blogging swing of things. We’re green here but few blooms just yet. Just a few wildflowers which I will share Sunday. Yes, our tree leaves are budding out too!

Yes, they do grow here but they are not indigenous

Purely an accident. Seems summer and fall yielded better chances for flowers of these colors. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it 😂

Thanks, Eugi! The dahlias were a gift in Fall 2022 while we visited Portland, OR, and by gift I didn’t know they bloomed in summer and fall.

Thank you, Cee! I’m planning to plant a few dahlias in a couple of week. They seem to grow OK here where we live.

Wait until late April or early May. They will turn out better.

Here we should wait until May due to overnight frost potential, thanks!!

Gorgeous choices, Terri. That dahlia looks strangely familiar! LOL Are you in Portland yet? You are going to hit some perfect weather there according to my brother. I think I am becoming partial to orange after seeing your pictures. They are so bright!

Thank you, Marsha! That was one of 50 pics I took while you and I were in Portland. We are traveling this Sunday. Looks like some rain that day but good weather while we’re there. Weird that I picked three orangy flowers, I guess the personified each season. 🏵🧡

Such good times, my friend. Have you been to Portland yet. I imagine you are just getting there if you traveled yesterday. I’m just now sitting down to read comments, and it’s after ten.

Yes, and we’re here. We’ve had two dinners with Maria, visited Woodburn mall. Tomorrow I’m having lunch at Miriam’s while Hans does some fixit projects at Maria’s. It’s a busy week planned. We’ll chat soon!

Did Diana come, too? I bet you all had a great time. The first meeting is tentative, and after that, it seems like you get close and closer. Look at us. It’s hard to believe we weren’t neighbors or didn’t go to school together!

Diana couldn’t make it. Hans met Miriam’s hubby and enjoyed the time together. You are so right about the first meeting. I can’t believe Miriam and I have so much in common. Like you, being educators and all. I miss you!!

These are all such vibrant flowers Terri, the Poppy especially. So I went out on Monday to get Spring flower pics for this Sunday’s April Flowers post because we were having an upcoming week of wild weather – torrential rain, snow showers and cold temps. I got some which was good as those flowers were bedraggled when I saw them this morning. Now, I saw at the end of this post you said we could use any flowers. I’m thinking you thought with the cold weather some people might have a tough time coming through with Spring flowers this April. 🙂

Thank you, Linda! I adore poppies! I miss seeing them. They cover the green spaces along the freeways in most of California in the spring. Yes, people can share any flowers from any time of year, since winter isn’t quite done with many of us. We have a few shy wildflowers now. Good luck, I look forward to seeing yours!

My neighbor had poppies one Summer – they were so big and I loved how they bobbed their “heads” if it was windy. I managed to get some crocuses, daffodils and Spring Beauties and have my post done, but am going out again tomorrow to see if I can add to it. No tulips yet unfortunately. They’ll have to be the end of this month.

Thank you, Diana! There are a few wildflowers beginning to show themselves. Although they seem to be competing with a bit of snow again!

Oh my. Snow? I hope we’re missing that, though I was wearing my parka yesterday. This is probably going to be one of those years where Spring is two weeks long and we’re suddenly in Summer!
