Cool squash/gourds/pumpkins but the moon shot is marvelous!

Terri, I saw some swan-like gourds and a few bumpy gourds on my recent Scarecrow Stroll, but nothing like your bumpy Gray Winter Squash – very unique looking! The reflections on the water were amazing too. We were in the 70s again today after a frosty start to our Monday. I hope you don’t get slammed with that storm our weather folks are talking about.

I love the different shapes of gourds, Linda! Seems like I see something new here each season. We had snow all day but the ground was still warm most of it melted. But now we’re in for very cold conditions for a few days.

Yes, I see our local farm market’s offerings and they are unusual shapes and sizes. Sorry to hear about your snowfall Terri, but that is the best type, the kind that melts away quickly. The cold snap – ugh. We have 78 today, may break a record tomorrow, but flakes next week and highs in the 30s.

Wow, those Gray Winter Squash are amazing! Are they real? I heard a report that your part of the country got quite a bit of snow and is expecting more. Even though I love your fall pictures, I look forward to images of your winter wonderland. 🙂

The gray squash are indeed real. They made great subjects. Oh yeah, we got a good inch of snow all day. Seems really early this year!! And poof! Autumn is over! I might have a snow shot this Sunday, Janis 😁

I love those pumpkins in the first image. I first saw bumpy pumpkins last year at a local roadside stand when my sister and I were out to buy pumpkins to decorate the stage for a fall concert. They were so cool we had to buy a few. I love the colors on those you got.

Thanks, Dawn! I think this was the first time I had seen the grey/blue bumpy ones. We also picked up a pumpkin that was a mottled mix of pink and blue!

Thanks so much, Amy. The gray ones are so strange–I wonder how they would carve into a jack-o’ lantern? I fear our autumn is over now–snow fell all day. Glad I caught the trees when I did.

Aren’t those crazy? We saw a lot of interesting varieties at the local farm coop this year. Green Bluff is just like Sacramento’s Apple Hill.

Thank you, Dawn! I’m glad I took the autumn scene last Friday. It’s actually snowing here this morning! Hope the leaves can hang on for a bit longer.

Oh wow. Hope so too, though it is cool to get the snow on a red or orange leaf.
