  1. Hi Terri, a lovely post. I used to cycle long distance races. I made a bicycle out of fondant once for my nephew but I never took pictures of the cake.

    1. Thank you, Robbie, wow, what was your longest distance riding? I’m sure your fondant bike was adorable.

      1. HI Terri, we rode 120 km. I did the Argus in CApe Town which is about 98 km in 4 hr 20 minutes which I was very pleased about. I stopped cycling because I had a bad accident and broke my pelvic bone in three places. I will find some pink pictures.

      2. Sounds like a great ride. A bad accident indeed, Robbie. 😪

  2. Your folding e-bike looks like the way to go Terri. I did not know there was an aquatic water bike. Biking is good exercise. I have an exercise bike in the basement. I don’t use it as much now since I began my walking regimen. I was hit by a drunk driver while riding my bicycle on July 4, 1976 – the day of the Bicentennial. Luckily she was only going 25 mph. She sped off; I was knocked down, not hurt, but the bike was mangled. I took it to the police station a few blocks away as I memorized four of the numbers in her license plate, got the car make and color and her description. She told the police the sun was low on the horizon, I drove into her path and she helped me get up and I said I was okay. The police believed me, not her – we had to go to court and she only got a “rolling stop” violation. I’ve never ridden in the street since but want to get a bike when I retire. Wayne (Tofino Photography) encouraged me to get an folding e-bike so I don’t have to have a carrier mounted on the car.

    1. How terrifying, Linda. I won’t ride on our hwy. Sadly, a friend’s son was killed by a truck driver riding in our area on the rural highway. He was training for the Iron Man Triathlon. A doctor in his 40s. They’re all so devastated.

      1. I will ride again some day Terri, but not on a City street. The reason Wayne suggested getting a fold-down electric bike was I had driven to three Metroparks that are relatively close to one another when driving, but there is a 49-mile loop to ride from one park to another, or ride within the park. I am sorry to hear about your friend – people drive recklessly and it is getting worse. A young man with a career and long life ahead of him killed because people don’t pay attention. A friend of mine who lived in Florida was killed by a dump truck driver who was texting. and plowed into his car. It was recently the one-year anniversary of Kirk’s death and I learned from a friend of his that the driver had illegal drugs in his system and had had issues in the past but the trucking company allowed him to continue to drive. Kirk had now family, so no one will be pursuing legal action against the truck driver or trucking company. I hope the police just don’t let his death go unpunished. We have a lot of people driving crazily right now – it is no pleasure to drive.

  5. My husband’s the cyclist. I tend to walk for my exercise…or provide the sag wagon for his longer rides.

  7. I’m super pumped because I just got my handle bars adjusted on my gravel bike so I can ride without wrist pain. Now, to find that darn value for the road bike so I can hit the highway and ride to the city. I love cycling. Great post. I’ve never seen an aquatic bike, but I only spend one week a year at the lake.

    1. Thanks, Bernie! I hope your highways are bike friendly, ours sure aren’t. It sure makes a difference in the handlebar height in conjunction with wrist comfort! I never got the chance to ride the water bike, but the students really loved it when our class went out for water play day!

      1. The highways around the city are all really good. The shoulder on ours is the preferred ride path for the 100+ club.

  8. That E-bike looks like fun. I had to give up on cycling, wasn’t agreeing with my wrists!

    1. I agree with the wrist issue, Graham! Most of my bikes cruisers have higher handlebars. Our bike trail in Sacramento had very few hills to climb, but here there are quite a few and the pedal assist (PAS) is super helpful!

  9. An aquatic bike! Never heard of those. Thank you.

  10. They need to make that aquatic bike electric as well! A rooster tail would be coming out from behind I bet!

    1. It has been a few years since I was at Sacramento’s aquatic center. I wouldn’t be surprised if one has been invented. Maybe too much like a jet ski, LOL!

  11. Trying to blog read on my phone. Not good!! I like the idea of your foldable e-bike. Might look into those. We are anxious for PC’s prostate cancer surgery to be behind us for many reasons but one is so we can return to cycling. Just saw one of those aquatic bikes on Pinterest. Seems like fun.

    1. Are you using the jetpack app, Leslie? Maybe it will help, otherwise, I use my PC often times too to read and comment :). My neighbor had prostate surgery last year. Recovery seems slow–best wishes for speed! Our rural highway is too dangerous to ride a bike, and it’s 7 miles to the Centennial bike trail. The folding e-bike is a great option for us.

  12. So fun, Terri. I’ve not ridden a bike in ages! I’m walking on my treadmill while I read posts. The smoke from the Canadian wild fires is everywhere!

    1. My new ebike was worth every penny, Colleen. When I first rode the Centennial Trail near home, the hills were too much. A little peddle power is amazing. I love that you’re reading while walking. We had a lot of that smoke 2 weeks ago.

      1. I’m on day 96 of walking. My aim was for 5000 steps a day. I’m doing well. 🥳

      2. Fantastic! Keep up the good work, I have an elliptical I need to hop on–today is good since it will hit 90!
