I’m sharing three photos for Becky B’s January Squares Challenge today for Wordless Wednesday.
The theme for these images is “Afternoon Delight” taken while on our winter road trip.
Before dinner on Christmas Eve, we walked along the Sail Bay side of Pacific Beach in San Diego. The light was amazing!

After our cold and snowy tour of the Grand Canyon, the afternoon light glowed on the snow-covered areas of Highway 17 on our drive back to Phoenix.

I finally got to see the Elephant Rock in the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.

When you stand among the red rocks and sand, everything glows!

Don’t forget to join me here this Sunday for the Sunday Stills photo challenge where we explore the theme yin-yang!

Thank you, Xenia, that filtered winter sunlight makes winter seem more distant.

These are lovely shots! I don’t know much about photography, but I know that light makes a difference between great shots and not so good ones. Happy new year!

As I remember, we had an incredible sunset here on Christmas Eve so that first shot was just the beginning of a light show in the sky. I am not crazy about the low slant of the sun in the winter, especially when walking around, but it sure makes for some beautiful skyscapes. Lovely pic of the rad rocks!

I have a fab photo of that same sunset, Janis! At least in SD the sun is a bit higher in the sky than up here. Those long shadows when there is sun make for great images.

Beautiful photos as always, and I love you perspective and wordplay for this “light” challenge. When we make it back west, I’ll be sure to check out the dirt a bit better. I never realized it was THIS red! 🙂

Thanks, Liesbet, I think when we sat down I noticed the sand’s color at that point!

Just leave me on the shore, by your first photo, and I’ll be perfectly happy, Terri. 🙂 🙂 Though those red rocks do look tempting!
