“Yellow is my favorite summer color – it makes me feel like a sunflower.” ~Bria Vinaite
I have to agree with Ms. Vinaite that yellow is my favorite summer color. Yellows come in many various shades, kind of like yellow and brown mustards.
Although I love all the shades of yellow, I only like actual mustard in small doses, and preferably on a hot dog or bratwurst. I promise this is the only yellow food shared in this post!
This yellow iris seems to agree that mustard may be a yummy flavor.
Since we are on the subject of mustard, how about a couple of mustard flowers for you?
Now add a little ketchup from these Lazy Susans…
How is your summer going? It has been hot here in Eastern Washington (well, most of the whole state). So much so that we elected not to go camping last week since we would not be hooked up to electricity and hence no air conditioning or fans. I’ve had enough heat illnesses this summer.
I mentioned in a previous post that we traveled through six states on our month-long road trip in June and July. We came home to some dry grass and two heat-compromised trees, but we’ve been watering faithfully every day and the grass is green(er) and the trees are doing nicely. Nervewracking as it was to see our poor backyard full of weeds, the wind and birds were kind enough to supply the backyard with dozens of volunteer sunflowers!
Enjoy this gallery of the latest selection of sunflowers from the backyard.
“And the yellow sunflower by the brook, in autumn beauty stood.” ~William Cullen Bryant
This one is my favorite. Even the dawn sky has a hint of yellow.
Here comes the sun!
A little more mustard for you…
Here is an added bonus of these painted yellow rocks to represent the sun as part of a 5th-grade solar system project.
