Sunday Stills: #Plant Life Grows Around Us

This week’s Sunday Stills photo challenge is all about plant life. Many folks are still limited to where they can go, but we can all walk in our backyards and gardens and enjoy plant life. While there, why not snap a few new pics to share with us this week?

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.

I was blessed to take a road trip last month to visit our property in Washington State and take care of some details. More about that next week!

The day we drove to look at our property, the ground was alive with coneflowers and purple lupine. I took that as a sign that we will love this property when we move there!

We also enjoyed a second Spring in Washington. I actually had to ask what kind of trees these were! Pink Dogwoods, by the way.

Not only did we make the drive to Washington in May, that same week we took two more short road trips through Memorial Day weekend!

Happy 80th birthday this week to my mom in Heaven. She loved her garden and was ecstatic when her yellow hibiscus grew and flourished.

  2. These are amazing beautiful plants all of them Terri. I’m looking forward to see photos of your property in Washington. This is so exciting. I think WA is a good choice for a place to live.   6. You must be getting so excited about your move Terri. Happy to see flowers flourishing there! BTW hydrangeas are my favorite flower and your are beautiful. I must admit tho that since moving south the magnolia is giving it a run for its money 😊

  13. Lovely reminders of summer colour…… some of that colour has yet to come our way in the UK.. Hydrangea here are still tight wrapped flower heads yet to open and show us their colours. They will…but in their own time 🙂

  26. Beautiful pictures, Terri! I remember seeing more hydrangeas in this area… then people got the memo that we were living in a desert and water was precious. Now, they are few and far between, but I still enjoy them. Fortunately, hibiscus flowers are still everywhere. I bet you are going to learn about all sorts of new-to-you flora and fauna when you move to your new home.

    • Thank you, Amy. I run SS weekly, and many people post on Sunday, but quite a few link other days of the week. I have the themes announced on my Sunday Stills page a month in advance, so folks can prepare. There are often times I would love to participate in LAPC but I don’t know in advance. I have linked a Sunday Stills post a few times, though. I hope you can join me any time, I love and admire your photography, Amy!

    • Thanks, Shari. We plan to sell that property ASAP. The house is dilapitated and too remote–long story. We are completely moving to the Spokane area as soon as hubby retires by the end of this year. We can live there on a reduced income and be close to family. More about it next week 🙂

  36. You’re so lucky to have made those road trips, Terri. Here in Wales, we’re not allowed to travel more than 5 miles from where we live. Our next coronavirus update is on June 18th, when I hope we’ll be allowed to travel a little further.

    Thank heavens we have a garden, though. We’ve had a lovely spring, so everything is blooming nicely. However, the past weekend, we went back to late Autumn. We even had to turn the heating back on!

    • Holly is such a pretty plant, Hugh. Do they grow in your yard? I’m sorry so many countries are still restricted on travel. We sort of decided to just drive and not worry about the potential consequences. After all, we have an actual postal address in WA now. We wore masks and were careful at fuel stops and in rest areas. At our brother-in-law’s we mostly stayed at their large house. Our only trip around town was to visit the property and meet with the manufactured home dealer about the pending build. More about it next week!

      • Yes, we have several holly plants in the garden, Terri. The berries appear in the autumn and turn red in Nove/Dec. The birds usually end up eating them, but I don’t mind that.

        We have much stricter lockdown rules in Wales than they do over the border in England. It can all get very confusing at times, knowing what one can and can not do. We can meet up with another local household in our garden or a local park but have to keep a distance of least 2 metres at all times. If you live in England, you can travel as far as you like to visit other people, but you’re not supposed to go inside their homes to use any facilities.

        I’m looking forward to hearing about your trip.

  42. I love the pink blossoms, Terri. Your theme reminds me I took a photo of some flowers I picked along the driveway a few days ago. I’m always late with my Instagram posts (yep, not very “insta”), but I’ll tag you again when I post those lupines. At least, that’s what I think they are.

    Nice you and Hans managed to drive up to your property in WA. Looking forward to reading more about that next Sunday.

  54. I appreciate the way you understood the beautiful flowers growing on your property to indicate that you guys will be most happy in your move to Washington. I look for ‘signs’ like that in everything I do!

    For the ‘plant life’ prompt, I immediately thought plants. But when I thought about it a little more, I thought about the old Chevron refinery plant we have in town and a concrete plant on the Texas-New Mexico border. Hoping to capture photos of those buildings and share both interpretation.
