Sunday Stills: My January Round-Up

Although I was on a break from hosting the Sunday Stills challenge, I left it in the capable and creative hands of Hugh and Carol! Huge thanks to them for posting their own interpretations of each week’s themes and for sharing your posts!

Trust me when I admit I miss my own photo challenge! Here is my round-up of January’s themes all in this post!

Reflect

Driving on a road trip allows time for thinking. Although hubby and I do a LOT of talking, I managed to reflect on recent events and how blessed I am to be able to take road trips. The beginning of 2019 was a time to reflect on the previous year.

My time in Phoenix allowed for later reflection on the fun times we had with Ingrid and her husband. This hike to the Cave Creek area shows a wonderful juxtaposition of desert saguaros reflected in the stream surrounded by cottonwoods.

In this photo, previously shared on Instagram, I was struck by the reflections even in the fog. We drove through the delta that day to return our trailer to its storage spot. Although a typical foggy day in January, the Sacramento River provided unexpected beauty.

Window

I love taking pictures out of windows. During our stay in Sedona, most of what we saw lie in this view of our snowed-in campground from our trailer’s window.

Night

Not happy that we had a cloudy night during the lunar eclipse on January 20th, I managed to capture the same moon at 5:30 in the morning (still night by my standards). This was the same January Wolf Moon, but the eclipse was long over. This was taken from my kitchen window! What I was doing up at that hour, I still don’t know!

  7. Thanks for allowing me to take the reins for Sunday Stills while you took a break, Terri. I had a great time showcasing the chosen themes and giving them my inputs. And it was great to meet many of your followers who continued to join in while you were away.

    The snow photo is so pure because there are no footprints in the snow. And I have to agree that the foggy day in January photo does bring out a lot of unexpected beauty. Just like the snow, the water in the photo looks untouched and pure.

  13. Fabulous photos. I think my favorites are those under the Reflect prompt. The greens in the first photograph are beautiful. The sunlight on the leaves of the branches on the right side of the image! Gorgeous.

    And that snow. So pristine. You really experienced all kinds of weather and terrain on your trip! Looks like it was a great adventure but if you are like me, there’s no place like home.

  15. I too am getting ready to jump back into the blogosphere after a break. Although, my writing brain is struggling just a tad. Wednesday I’m heading back over to Spur Cross for another hike. I’m glad I was able to share one of my favorite trails with you. The wildflowers are starting to show up little by little and in another month they’ll be in full swing. Hard to believe that the Sedona snow was just a few weeks ago!

  16. That scene in Sedona is surreal!! I guess I shouldn’t complain about all the rain we’ve been getting in San Diego and in the desert these months. At least it’s still 60 degrees. Which, I assume is lower than other years as well. Funky climates. I guess your camper has a slide-out, based on that snowy “window” photo. Very nice and roomy!

    • Yes, the trailer has a slide out, a must have for me when we bought it…we’ve had it one year already! I heard this is a La Nina year for weather, wetter than normal, which explains a lot! Lots of rain up here this weekend which is OK!
