Ed, from Sunday Stills, challenged bloggers to submit a photo of buildings over four stories tall.
Even though I was standing much higher than four stories tall at the top of Diamond Head, this shot gives you a perspective of just how many tall buildings there are in Waikiki.
It is still a beautiful place and I would go back in a heartbeat.
Ahhh, Hawaii! I hope to visit one day! It’s interesting how there are so many tall buildings on Waikiki! I guess the foundations are strong because they’re built on lava rock? Very beautiful photo! Hope you can get back there soon!

Here and in Honolulu in Pearl Harbor, you see a lot of urban city. But it’s Hawaii and the feeling is still there. Oahu is a wonderful island for first time visitors to go.

Definitely tall buildings.

Funny, too, because we stayed at the Waikiki circle, one of the smallest buildings around, only 12 stories. it is dwarfed by all the others 🙂

Terri, that’s a great photo. I’ve never been to Hawaii, or ever intend to, so it’s nice to “visit” via others’ perspectives. Hopefully you’ll get to return soon!

Try Hawaii Island for a taste of old Hawaii. The towns, the people, aren’t so caught up in the tourist trade and the little towns are wonderful. Course, I’m prejudice. I lived on Hawaii Island. If you return, check out http://www.hawaiiislandretreat.com for a sustainable and organic hotel experience.

That is hopefully our next trip–the big island! thanks Janet! I did enjoy Oahu with the North shore surfing, Pearl Harbor and the pineapple plantation, among other cool things!
