At the Sacramento Delta, we rarely get rain during August, but when we do, this is the stunning cloud show we get! These clouds are known as “lenticular” clouds, due to their lens shape, caused by windy conditions. Read about these clouds here. Truth be told, this was the first time I had ever seen these types of clouds. Amazing, huh?
“Cloudy” is the theme for Jennifer Nichole Wells’ One Word Photo Challenge this week. Feel free to join anytime.

That is a beautiful photo. I don’t think I’ve ever seen clouds like that before.

I’ve seen lenticular religious artwork but never lenticular clouds. Fascinating!

Wow, Fannie, I’ve never heard of that. You’ll have to send me a link! I think seeing these clouds is a rare occurrence; I had never seen them either!

They’re those cheesy holographic-looking prints, I don’t know when they were popular but I saw more of them when I was a child. I found one at a thrift store but I don’t have an image handy.

Great shot! I really enjoy it. The wind turbines give a very cool depth. 🙂

Thanks, Hugh, I sure hope that is not a prophetic statement for California, what with our drought! I’m happy I caught the moment. I even painted a small canvas of it.

Ah yes, sorry about that. I forgot about the drought that your part of the world is currently having.
If I could send you some of rain we are having here in Southern England today, I would. It’s not stopped all day, plus we’ve had to put the heating back on!
