Weekend Coffee Share: Setting Up Base Camp

How was your week? I certainly hope you had a great weekend! Let’s sit down for a cup of coffee and chat about how the week went! My week went really well. I am excited about a new WordPress event I started–Writing 101. We started this past week and I am enjoying the challenges. One of the bonuses of participating in these challenges is the opportunity to meet new (and veteran bloggers) and see the growth of fellow bloggers’ writing skills.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you how much time this takes, but time worth taking!

This has been a week filled with memories. If we were having coffee, I would tell you that April 9th was the sixth year anniversary of the first date with my (now) husband. Read the story here. Six years ago, this week was just before Easter, so that added to the emotions of the week.

In a nutshell, six years ago, my daughter broke her arm in a Crossfit accident, so I drove to her city two hours away to help while she had surgery. I re-met the man I would marry that week, who would introduce me to windsurfing, a fabulous group of new friends, and an amazing leisure lifestyle.

If we were having coffee, I would show you the photo of my husband and I celebrating the anniversary of our first date at a wonderful restaurant using a gift card I received from my retirement party. Made good use of that!

While we were enjoying our coffee, I would show you this next photo of our windsurf camp in the Sacramento River Delta. The windsurf organization we belong to leases two acres of property for 6 months and members can park their trailers and gear during that time. The season begins when the climate changes in the warm months ushering in the delta breezes and enough wind for serious wind-junkies!

We moved this past weekend and with no wi-fi, I had to spend all my LEISURE time being outside, socializing with friends I haven’t seen since last October, and some stand-up paddling! Oh, darn. There wasn’t enough wind yet, but the season just started. No wind means that we can set up camp without the pesky distraction of windsurfing!

It takes two full weekends to set up the camp at our windsurf recreation area.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my weekends are going to be busy with all things windsurfing. However, once wi-fi is set up in a week or two, I WILL be attending to my blog on weekend days when time permits.

If we were having coffee, I would ask you to raise your coffee mug in a toast to the beginning of a fabulous spring and new week!Weekend Coffee Share

  2. My week was great also! It’s amazing how fast time flies when we’ve retired, huh? “My” yellow cardinal has appeared once again so spring has officially started for me. I’m not really sure if it’s the same one year after year, but I like to think so.

My husband and I are planning our next vacation so I’ve been spending a lot of time on the computer researching… but the sunshine is beckoning so I’ll have to go rinse out my coffee cup and get out there!

    Cheers to you too!

  3. Thanks for the coffee! We just got back from a mini-vacation while my wife was at a conference. It was a blast, but exhausting (but aren’t vacations supposed to be?). The weather has taken a turn for the better and we’re getting temperatures above freezing which is putting a hurting on all our snow. Spring isn’t far from us now. Lastly, in an attempt to make you smile, my 3 year old son has stripped himself naked so he can lay in the sunspot on the living room floor 🙂
